The American outbound flight to JFK has been cancelled.

I'm guessing a tech issue?

Again not good for the "reputation" of this route/airline.
I would like to know how many times this flight has been cancelled since its launch last May due to tech issues ???
As much as i love the 757 from a spotters point of view, they are increasingly becoming less reliable on long flights.

I'm not sure if it was because of the AA cancelation, but United's seat map for today showed only 3 business class seats left, 2 economy+ and economy totally full.
I assume that business passengers may change, but economy is very limited to alterations unless the airline switches them. Also, with AA departing later (when the service runs) than United may make this unlikely.

No the United flight departs just before the American does so all passengers would have been checked in and check in closed well before the American went tech. The sooner both flights get upgraded to 767s the better!

Going by Twitter it was 5 hours after the scheduled departure time that AA cancelled the flight. It should depart tomorrow but whether there will be any pax I don't know.

Good to see United filling their planes. Do we know how the AA flights are doing?

Let's not forget the 767 fleets of both airlines aren't getting any younger...Many of American's 767s are even older than their 757s, and a 767 that visited last year went tech!

I would love to see them on a regular basis, but it wouldn't necessarily banish the recent catalogue of technical problems.

No point replacing them with B767's for reliability, for AA, they seem to be even worse than the B757. Seems almost weekly that there is a B767 stuck on the remotes all night at LHR/MAN after going tech.

With a plane load in hotels added to the next day's manifest, could a B777 turn up to relieve the situation?
It would be nice, but the extra passengers who can't get a seat on the next flight from BHX are usually taken to LHR by coach and put on flights from there.

Aer Lingus Via Dub on one of there nice green A330s then (y)

Just noticed on the BHX website, the AA aircraft is due to depart BHX at 12.00 midday today. I am pleased to announce that todays AA to JFK arrived early and is due to depart on time. Not sure if a larger aircraft is being sent in though, anybody know ??

Just gone over my house at FL310 (approx.). FR24 showing flight number as UAE 2502, so I'm assuming it's a positioning flight.

Kevin

For some reason, I've been thinking about this. EK 38 was obviously cancelled, as the aircraft departed (presumably positioning back to Dubai) using the flight number EK 2502.
Alternative arrangements will have been found for the passengers, but would the flight still have been utilised for freight?

Kevin

Looks like there has been a couple of runway changes in a short space of time.
The SAS A319 took off on 15 while about 6 were holding,so I am assuming they were waiting for 33 to become available.
Weather could well be a factor as the wind does seem to be very changeable at the minute, and rain showers are also in the area.

It's just gone from bright sunshine to heavy rain here so I'm assuming there are patches of bad weather.

Lufthansa and KLM are about to join in but as far as I can tell nothing has diverted elsewhere as yet.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
