Hi

Good news Low cost airline, Norwegian Air Shuttle are to commence flights from Manchester Airport from October 31st 2011. They will operate three times weekly service to Oslo with Boeing 737 aircraft.

Manchester timings.
Mondays &Wednesdays = Arr. 09:50 - Dep. 10:20
Fridays = Arr. 13:10 - Dep. 13:40

Not good news for LBA, as they are wanting a new Scandanavian Airline to open up the market to Leeds.

After Turkish Airlines yesterday, Norwegian are the next airline to expand at Manchester.

From 1st November, a new 4 weekly Stockholm Arlanda service starts:

DY4479 ARN1045 - 1210MAN 73H 145
DY4481 ARN1825 - 1950MAN 73H 7

DY4480 MAN1240 - 1605ARN 73H 145
DY4482 MAN2020 - 2345ARN 73H 7

Also, from sunday 4th November, their Oslo flight goes up to 4 times weekly, with the sunday flight added.

More good news from Norwegian Air Shuttle today.

From April 1st, they will commence a 2 weekly (Mon and Fri link to Stavanger. Flights are already on sale via their website.

This brings the total destinations from MAN to 3 (Oslo, Stockholm and Stavanger) and 10 weekly flights.

Also expected in the next few weeks is a 4 weekly link to Helsinki.

Norwegian have said they will bring their long haul product to the UK regions in 2016/2017, and that the North west is on their radar

Norwegian were just asked via Facebook, 'when are your new Manchester-Mediterranean routes for S16 on sale'.

They replied 'soon, possibly next month, but still early for S16 yet'

Interesting!

It been reported on another forum that nas has filed for bankruptcy all flights apart from one have been canx today.A sad loss if true.
I'd never have thought it.

Good news regarding the Mediterranean routes. Any routes specified?

A similar rumour is circulating at BHX. A Norwegian employee on another forum named over five routes that NAX are apparently looking to start from BHX, among them Palma de Mallorca, Faro, Nice and Split.

He wasn't a Norwegian employee, just someone with contacts.

But yes, it looks promising.

Norwegian could be about to start MAN-BOS.

Looking at booking flights, I tried April dates, but I got a message saying 'no flights found, this route begins on 14th May'.

Trying to book from 14th May then just brings up an error message.

Interesting!

According to there facebook page they have no plans to start MAN-BOS, the reply from Norweigan Re: Above new route was that its a flight from LGW, but as there are no flights between MAN-LGW with Norweigan, who knows ??????

Confused.com

This is what you see when you try to book MAN-BOS. Any other MAN-USA route you try just states 'no flights available'. This one says 'flights begin May 14th, please choose a date below'. Thing is, no dates can be chosen. After the ORK-BOS shock, it's possible...

Norwegian have applied for 154 slots for next summer at MAN.

This is the equivilent of on average 11 flights per day.

Assuming a 2 based operation, that can account for around 6-9 slots per day, 6 being 2 daily flights from each unit or 3 daily if short sectors. That leaves between 2-5 slots per day for away based, which is plausible given we have up to 3 daily away based as is.

This picture builds.

FINALLY!

some confirmed expansion of Norwegian flights in 2016, after what seems an eternity in stagnation.

Stockholm increases from 2 to 4 weekly with new flights on Thursday and Sunday morning.

Oslo increases to 4 weekly with a new flight on Sunday nights.

That means they are now 10 weekly, with possibly more to come given the flights can only be booked via connections at this time (for example, if you search MAN-ARN the new flights do not show, but if you book say, MAN-CPH, the new ARN flights show.)

It seems Mr Kjos of Norwegian is now openly talking about long haul from Manchester at last too.

He says in an article that the B737-max is an 'interesting idea for cities such as Manchester, where we could run flights to the USA and India, with the possibility of opening up cities from Birmingham too'.

Looks like Norwegian are finally remembering we are here!

I think India would be pushing it a little bit...it would be the very limit of the MAX's operating range which is roughly 6,400km.

I don't know about MAN but BHX-Delhi, for example, is 6,799km—out of range. Going the other way, MCO—one of Norwegian's most popular US routes—is 6,824km. I think MAN might be a few km further away in both cases.

The MAX can only do so much—hopefully (assuming they start MAN/BHX) Norwegian will get the 787 to do longer flights so the regions don't miss out on some good routes.

From September, the following flights are showing in GDS and slots applied for the following flights:

Norwegian (NAX)

Billund 3 weekly (Mon/Wed/Fri)
Aarhus 2 weekly (Mon/Fri)
Gothenburg 4 weekly (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun)
Oslo still shows the Sunday flight added but the extra Stockholm seems to have been removed.

Norwegian (IBK)

Alicante 4 weekly (Tue/Thu/Fri/Sun)
Tenerife 2 weekly (Tue/Thu)

Let's hope the flights come to fruition.

Any further information on the Norwegian flights?

I don't seem to be able to see any reference to ALC/TFS

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
