What's MARS stand for?
Update.
Forget that. Looked it up. AI seemingly does have its uses. Multiple Aircraft Stand System.
Nothing has been said to indicate this or that the apron generally will be re-marked. That diesnt mean it might not happen though at some point in the apron expansion process.

Don't they already have one stand like that on the existing main apron? The one they used for wide bodied aircraft? You remember wide bodied aircraft? Like narrow bodied aircraft but on steroids. We used to have them once upon a time.View attachment 32947
It does offer more flexibility for different sizes of aircraft and it seems like the logical progression for the airport to maximise stand usage.
Stands 7 and 8 have visual docking systems but they've been deactivated for years, if that's what you're referring to.Don't they already have one stand like that on the existing main apron? Are there any plans yet to move the airside road to behind the stands as they do at most other airports?
And I suppose I should ask, will the stands be MARS equipt and will the stand layout across the entire apron change?
My doctor described me as being wide bodied but I suspect he was only being polite!Don't they already have one stand like that on the existing main apron? The one they used for wide bodied aircraft? For goodness sake, please don't start drinking R*d B**l as apparently that also gives you wings! My doctor described me as being wide bodied but I suspect he was only being polite!
Been in place since works started as far as I'm awareI'm guessing Delta taxiway will now have a width restriction?
I mean a permanent width restriction.Been in place since works started as far as I'm aware
A concrete answer would be appreciated! Will they have to “stand” for a while before use to allow the concrete to cure and reach full strength?
Not like there are many widebodies travelling up delta currentlyI'm guessing Delta taxiway will now have a width restriction?
Since the expansion there isn’t a walkway for stand 12 for the passengers so stand 12 gets used as a remote stand mostly and gets towed in the morning to another stand.I've noticed that stand 12 hasn't been used for departures in the last few days (at least), and on at least 2 occasions the aircraft that parked on stand 12 overnight appears to have been towed to stand 11 for departure. Is there a reason for this?
Is this going to be rectified with the remaining development?Since the expansion there isn’t a walkway for stand 12 for the passengers so stand 12 gets used as a remote stand mostly and gets towed in the morning to another stand.
They are talking about implementing a way for pax to walk to Stand 12 but nothing solid yetIs this going to be rectified with the remaining development?
They’ve built a glass panel potentially looking like they’re planning a gate on stand 12 in future. In answer to your question @YorkshireLad.They are talking about implementing a way for pax to walk to Stand 12 but nothing solid yet
