As of December Avanti West Coast are increasing their Liverpool to London rail service. When this happens one of the London services per hour will call at Liverpool South Parkway . This station is for the airport link, whilst I don't know the stopping pattern, the new service will provide more travel options for passengers to reach Liverpool Airport .

i thought there was an issue with lengthy trains stopping on the bridge....

edit. i have read elsewhere that Avanti will use class 807 stock which do fit the platform lengths at LPY

The latest rail announcements for the North will seemingly bring no benefits for passengers travel to Liverpool Airport. Surface transport needs an upgrade to the airport either rail or tram, certainly separate from congested roads . We do not need another station for Manchester Airport, when other northern airports namely LPL and LBA need improvements more urgently. So a big miss today, albeit nothing seems due to happen for years.
