Hi Jerry, the Flybe route to Belfast is pretty reliable with very few cancellations. The only usual issues are weather related (fog) but in comparison to the number of flights, the number of diverts is tiny.

Thanks it's been a while since i've been on a turboprop and will be my first flight with Flybe. I'm looking forward to seeing what Belfast City and Leeds Bradford are like!

I hope you enjoy your trip to Leeds. Loads to see, great for shopping, nightlife and real ale pubs if you are into that sort of thing. Will be even better after 20th October once the Victoria Gate Shopping Centre opens with its new John Lewis store. We don't seem to play football anymore in Leeds, but we are pretty good at winning Olympic medals!! Royal Armouries, Tropical World, Kirkstall Abbey, Middleton Railway, Temple Newsam House are all worth visiting to name just a few.

I think you'd have to be unlucky to suffer a Flybe cancellation but they do happen much the same as at any other airport.

Further to Bigman's post the Leeds Arena is pretty swish too.

Haven't planned to go anywhere in particular yet but i'm sure she'll probably want to go into the city centre or something! Rawdon from what i remember I think it's like 5 mins form the airport?

That is about right for Rawdon Jerry. Just down the road from LBA.

I think you might find Otley more interesting from a tourist perspective. Google it and see what you think.

As a resident of Yeadon next door the Rawdon, I would rather spend my time in rawdon then Otley. I love just watching the cricket in Rawdon and wandering across to the Emmott Arms, larkfield Dam still I think has the model boat club there, not been up recently.
Obviously yeadon has yeadon tarn a lovely place to walk round and enjoy the future olympic yacht sailors practice, the Chevins with there spectacular views, especially of the airport.
Otley in my mind should be avoided after night fall, its reputation after dark for the problems associated with drinking are well documented locally. I am not sure what it has to offer in the day, other then as my OH states, must have more charity shops then any other place, virtually every shop is a charity shop. To me is not the place it was 50 years ago, its lost its old world charm.

Otley shook off its unsavoury night time reputation more than twenty years ago. I've never encountered any aggro there. Yeadon has also cleaned up its act in more recent years. As for Rawdon, it must be at least ten years since I last went in the Emmott Arms. Cheap ale but falling to pieces and a strong stink of toilets upon walking in. Kind if puts you off !

Friends of mine travelled from Scotland for a flight from Leeds and stayed overnight in Otley before flying the next day. They thoroughly enjoyed Otley and the meal (somewhere!) during the evening. Recommended.

I'm with Tarn Spotter on this. I live at the bottom end of Yeadon, close to the boundary with Rawdon. Yeadon itself has suffered over the last couple of decades ,primarily because of Morrisons taking all the trade from the high street. The nightlife wasn't ever fantastic but it was so much better than it is now. As a place the town is looking dated and in need of lots of TLC. Rawdon on the other hand is a quaint quintessential Yorkshire village with it's village cricket ground, pub and church. If you like walking, you can walk to Rawdon Billing from near the back of the Emmott Arms, the Billing offers some excellent views across Aireborough and pretty much the whole of West Yorkshire. If you're looking for somewhere to eat, the Brownlees Pub in nearby Horsforth is nice. In any case, Rawdon is within easy reach of Leeds where you said you'd like to go to visit.

It's an exaggeration to blame Morrisons for 'taking all the trade from the high street'. That particular branch has been trading there for as long as I can remember and businesses have continued to come and go over the last several decades. The most recent casualties are NatWest and Yorkshire Bank, scarcely down to Morrisons presence. The Vegetable Patch went but the twice weekly greengrocer stall does a roaring trade. The butcher shops also have a steady trade.

I think Yeadon has improved a great deal over the last ten years. Two new restaurants just in the last year and Wetherspoons three years ago. Just need some tenants for the old Unit 4 premises. Costa Coffee or Caffe Nero would be perfect. Not Starbucks though !

I agree. It's not something Morrisons has done overnight it's something supermarkets have been doing to many high streets everywhere for decades. Did you know Fulton's is closing down?

Yes. End of lease I guess. It's only about five years since they opened. Something odd if a discount food store can't hack it. Hope the unit is occupied quickly.

With the sacking of Saas Hammad yesterday after three years in charge and the shares dropping to 37p each (issue price 295p) and load factors dropping below 70% network wide they will be desperate for any good news. Hammad failed to convince the city of the benefits of flying turboprops to and from secondary and even smaller u.k. airports. Shareholders having lost 66% of the recent rights offers funds will not be willing to see a continuation of this commercial policy and Simon Laffin will have to change tack.

It is not on sale for the summer, but is from DSA. (I know no summer flights are on sale from LBA at the moment)
It seems strange to me that they will operate both LBA & DSA as they will be competing with themselves.

They are running the Leeds - Newquay route for 3 years minimum (3x weekly winter / 5x weekly summer) according to the contract flybe have signed with the 2x airports in question and the current Conservative Government (Department of Transport). I bet the be a nasty fine if the was a breach of contract by either party?

Saying that as you say Seasider the flybe summer 2017 programme has not been fully released for sale yet. I only see the Donny and Cardiff E190 (Project Bluebird paid for bases) routes on sale along with summer/beach routes from other bases have so far been released.
