Can anyone remember an airline that served Birmingham called 'Community Express ? I do because I travelled on them once , they didn't last long , I think there was some US connection with them. They had a route LPL-BHX-LGW, I can' t remember the aircraft but I deffo recall taking on more passengers at BHX.

I do vaguely remember Community Express.Shorts 360 I think was the aircraft in use, although my memory is not that good.
If there was a connection to the US,then could it have been with the People Express services.
They were taken over by Continental later.

I think it was more the backers, they had a regional airline in the U.S. When I went on them I needed to go to Gatwick, I was surprised there were a few on it and a few more got on at BHX for the hop down to Gatwick. Might be handy now even .

Yes I remember them too, they also flew EMA-BHX-LGW on Jetstream 31s, they didn't last long!

I had a good look around the old terminal on the last day of operation on the basis that i might never be able to
gain access in the future.

As the evening wore on with just a couple of inbounds remaining i walked around and took some last minute photos.

There was no fuss at all, in fact the place was a bit like a ghost town, very sad day.
Do you still have the photos?

I can find very few photos of the interior of the Elmdon terminal over the years. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'd love to see some if there are any out there. My Mom worked in the Elmdon Terminal for a few years in the 70's, just before I was born. It would be interesting to see if she appears on any.

This is the only one that I've ever seen, again from Twitter with no credit?

Yes as I was there. It was an Aer Lingus 737 to Dublin, then they started moving the night-stoppers over to the new terminal. I think there were 2 BA one elevens & an Orion 737 as I remember!!
Just the usual then!

Can anyone confirm the short 'tunnel' which took you from the terminal to the departure lounge had a bureau de change on one wall? Also I have a memory of orange carpet or was that the seats in departures?

Its amazing that after all this time a lot about airports have changed, but equally how much has stayed the same.

If the photographer had turned right would they have been facing the information desk?

I don't remember ever going in there. I'm sure that I must have been at some point but not since I was a toddler. I'd love to see some pictures if anybody has any?

Anyone remember the first Air India B707 flight on its service into the airport, me and some mates went into the terminal and saw a group of indian dancers and a band they were throwing confeti everywhere, if memory serves me right.

E.

I can remember the TV seats (moulded plastic with a TV screen built in to the arm) I can't remember how much it was but I know it was a timer which allowed a certain amount of time normally about 10-15 minutes a go. There was a line of about 4 or 5 of them in the departures lounge.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
