Brymon European Airways is the name for the new company with the Plimsoll Line to combine the existing activities of BEA and Brymon Airways of Plymouth.Little is known about the merger,as nothing has been announced since the merger was unveiled. We do know the HQ will be Plymouth Airport, which is owned by Brymon, and that BEA`s admin staff will be transfered there. In return Dash 8 maintenance is expected to be transfered to BHX.Redundancies are to be made amongst management grades in both airlines, indeed the Brymon MD has already left.No announcements have been made regarding routes or equipment changes.
British Midland has 2 aircraft based here this Summer. One DC9-10 is used on weekdays on 3 BRU sectors, with one JER rotation at lunchtime. At weekends it does mainly JER services, with a single trip to BRU with DC9-30`s and 737-300`s sometimes used on weekend JER flights..The LHR service must be under threat, because of BMA`s desire to increase it`s European services from LHR.A lack of available LHR slots led them to drop the LPL-LHR service, and possibly MME or LBA may be next.BMA `s BHX and EMA services see both DHC7 and ATP aircraft used, with several weekday flights serving both airports.
Jersey European have further increased BHX services this Summer, with Belfast Harbour now served 5 times daily on weekdays, and 3 each on Sat/Sun.Jersey is served daily on weekdays, and twice daily at weekends. When the F27 is in JER it does a JER-BOH-JER sector aswell during the week.GUE has been dropped as a destination.F27`s are used on every BHX service, although occasionally a Short 360 covers for maintenance.
Manx Airlines operate twice daily to BHX on weekdays, with a daily flight at weekends in Summer.Weekday flights are normally SD360 operated, but ATP`s are used frequently, and the temporary loss of an ATP resulted in a BAF 1-11 being used for 4 weeks, visiting BHX several times. At weekends ATP`s are the norm, with their BAE 146 often appearing on Saturdays.
Loganair were given the BHX-GCI licence at the start of April, and it is operated on a daily frequency by MAN based ATP on a GCI-BMA-EMA-GCI circuit, between MAN-GCI and GCI-MAN sectors. At weekends however BHX and EMA are served by separate flights as 2 ATP`s are available from MAN.
Airtours International have an MD83 based on a busy week`s flights for Airtours Holidays, the aircraft normally exchanges with others from the MAN fleet on a weekly basis. The Monday pm and Friday am service to Beavais stopped at the end of July, due to poor loads, and pax are now trasfered to EMA to be carried on an Air Toulouse Caravelle.
Air 2000 has two 757`s based at BHX this Summer, one of which has to be EROPS to operate the Sunday Orlando service for Unijet Holidays in place of the planned American Transair Tristar. Both aircraft are fully committed with 32 flights per week between them.
Air UK Leisure have one 737-400 based mainly operating for Unijet Holidays, part of the same group.Resident plane has been brand new G-UKLG since 29/4/92,but the aircraft is often borrowed on Tuesdays by the other UKL bases, when our plane has no flights.
Britannia has a large BHX programme this year, with one 767,one 757 and 2 737-200`s based. The 767 does two trips a week to Orlando, aswell as Med and Canaries services. The Tuesday USA flight operates via GLA.The 767 is resident on a 3 week cycle, whilst the 757 normally exchanges with the EMA aircraft on Saturdays at EMA.
Aurigny Air Services use their solitary Short 360 from/to JER on Sunday lunchtimes.
Business Air have recently started a Saturday lunchtime service from/to JER using their newly aquired ex Swedair SAAB 340 on the first two services.
Dan Air have two weekly I.T. services,on Tuesdays a 1-11-500 operates from/to ALC,the aircraft starting at LGW,normally one of 3 remaing IT configured G-BJYL/M/BJMV,whilst on Saturday afternoons a NCL based 737-400 operates f/t AGP,being 1 of G-BNNK/BNNL/BSNW
