Very quiet from the airport.. good simmer schedule underway but habent heard any rumblings of anysorts for next year... maybe a revent glut of good news has stalled for a while.

The main thing is the renewal of the London route -PSO contract? Anyway they're working hard to try and get LHR, politically it would assist in 3rd runway votes etc

NQY has seen stellar growth in recent years. There was bound to come a time when this rate of growth would take a breather.

You're closer to the action there than me. What's been on the airport's wish list that has yet to materialise? I think KLM to AMS was something the airport was (is) keen on. I remember we wondered if KLM's seeming to cut back a bit on some of its UK routes might be a problem for that aspiration in the short term.

I think the problem with KLM maybe slots at AMS and Cityhopper being stretched.
If the PSO route is moved to Heathrow, though slots maybe a problem, then a AMS route may not be needed.

Yes AMS has been muted a few times.. in the absence of Heathrow access for now it was a serious option into a big hub if they could secure it.
I’d like to see another sun route or winter sun, people are using the Ryanair flights (as am I next week)
Depending on how the german flights go this year we may see another..
For now we should be happy with what they have, good lot really for a small airport

EasyJet flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife makes urgent landing at Cornwall Newquay Airport

Medical emergency caused the the diversion to NQY.

Not sure they have the timings correct though: the flight was said to have left Edinburgh at 3.20pm, landed at Newquay at 4.04pm, left at 7.16pm and arrived at Tenerife at 10.50pm.

44 minutes to fly from EDI to NQY is some going.
D own hill all the way lol.

She said flight was packed, so presumably route doing well.
These indications are very positive but with Ryanair you never know. They have a track record of axing services where load factors have been consistently extremely high.

If the high loads really do mean a successful Faro operation at NQY then there could be grounds for optimism that one or two other sun routes might be added. CWL is another airport where Ryanair might successfully add to its route portfolio, especially with sun destinations.

Fingers crossed they'll add at both airports in 2019!

What i am surprised about given how popular Newquay is as a holiday destination is why they haven't tried Newquay from Stansted, even a couple of times a week, same with Easyjet from Gatwick.

Ryanair used to operate STN-NQY but axed it around 2009 in protest at NQY's £5 per adult passenger development fee, since abolished. I think the flight was daily or pretty well near.

I am a big fan of small airports especially NQY but while I am sat here in the exec lounge I think this is not acceptable for any airport.
It would be interesting to know the lounge manager's reaction if approached about it - assuming there is a lounge manager and he/she can be got hold of.

That chair looks knackered! I'm surprised they haven't replaced it!

Had it confirmed by the airport today that only Stuttgart and Düsseldorf available as direct German routes this year. Disappointingly Berlin has gone and Frankfurt with Ryanair.. the latter I know was a route they were keen to cement. A blow one would feel to overall numbers and network. I doubt the 4 x daily Heathrow flights will compensate for the numbers... I think I also mentioned that any hopefull further Ryanair activity might be stalled now they are at Exeter..

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
