How did the airshow go? On the day there was a lot of media coverage in this neck of the woods regarding 'gridlock' on local roads by people wanting to get to MME for the show. I recall MME advising folk beforehand that the car parks would only be available for people who were flying from the airport and not airshow visitors. Was it this that caused whatever problems there was?

TUI offering from Teesside
Summer 2023

Palma de Mallorca 2 weekly Tuesday and Saturday
Antalya 1 weekly Thursday
Summer 2024
Palma de Mallorca 2 weekly Tuesday and Saturday
Dalaman 1 weekly Tuesday

At the moment they'll offer 3 weekly flights to 2 destinations, with it looks like Dalaman replacing Antalya for S24.

Teesside is to become the new home for 2Excel Aviations two Boeing 727 200 oil spill response aircraft, G-OSRA and G-OSRB, following the closure if DSA. The move will be taking place by 18th November. The rest of the fleet, all light aircraft, are going to Humberside..

Couple of articles about the first series of cargo flights into Teesside. Interesting to see that they expect wide bodied aircraft to arrive next year and could see upto 20,000 tonnes a year of cargo handled through the airport. It is great to see the turnaround the airport is seeing.

I cant see much more than a fraction of the cargo which was handled at DSA materialising at MME. A pre- requisite for freighter operations is a long runway. The 747 freighters that were the most common visitors to DSA wouldn't be able to operate to/from MME. Still, any new business is good news.

Teesside can handle 747's. The last 747 into Teesside was a CargoLogicAir in 2015

Well that's encouraging.
Questions:
1.where was it operating to/from?
2. How heavily loaded was it?
3. Was it loaded in, out or both?

Leeds used to have pax B747's regularly but truth is most airlines are reluctant to operate them from shorter runways.

First UK airport to go fully across to the new types of scanner where you can leave everything in the bag - if you have been to AMS in the last few years you will have seen these in action as they are fully converted.

That will be a godsend when rolled out across the country. As much as I believe security needs to be thorough, the queues it generates must dissuade some passengers, especially business passengers from travelling by air. This should have a huge impact a larger airports.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
