You can park on double yellow lines so long as you remain with your vehicle. The only way you can't park on them is if the curb is marked up periodically with two yellow stripes. I think you'll find there is no curb by the cemetery. Broken yellow lines and yellow lines that don't end clearly are not enforceable. Signage must also be present and again, this must be place at frequent intervals. A policeman can still issue you with an enforceable ticket but the reason will often be vague and contestable with photographic evidence.

Double yellow lines mean no parking for longer than the working day. A single yellow line means no parking during the working day and broken yellow lines mean no parking at specified times. The rules on putting signs up has changed. There is now no need to put signs up for double yellow lines. In fact Leeds keep putting legal consolidating notices in the Yorkshire Post that says they are making all yellow lines no parking at any time through out the city. The yellow cross lines on the edge of the footway refers to loading and unloading of vehicles. There used to be a problem with the end bars on yellow lines, but that now seems to be have been put right. Where yellow lines do appear it is not only applicable to the carriageway (road) but also applies to any verge or footway (path). A police officer can issue a notice if he believes that a vehicle is coursing an obstruction.

Heather they must own the other well known area who painted the double yellow lines? Who emptied the bins?
They don't. I asked the same question. I think they provide the bins and empty them to keep the area tidy and to stop the cemetary from becoming a mess, but the map sent showed clearly that stretch of road is no longer under council ownership - and the yellow lines were painted years ago! They have virtually faded away now and in places crumbled away. The no waiting signs that go with them no longer have signs on either. My information came from a councillor who sits on the consultative committee and surprised me too, but I can assure you that is what the map shows whilst the relevant department who supplied it to the councillor also confirmed they don't own it.

I have been meaning to post this but always forgot, whats happening on Plane Trees? Mounds of earth and a barrier?

Basically Plane Tree Hill has been issued an ASBO. Not an idea situation but there's still nothing to stop you from going onto the hill, albeit walking instead of in your car.

I have just had an e-mail from the Assets Engineer at Leeds City Council regarding Haw Lane/ (old) Cemetery Road. It is not known whether these two highways are maintained by the highway authority. It seems as though that they were not taken out of the street registry at the time of the runway extension.
He tells me that it may take some time to unravel and it is not a priority to sort out.

i am a support worker for a residential home near huddersfield.
I would love to bring a few of my people to watch the planes at leeds and bradford.
some are wheelchair users,,,,any accessible places please to see the planes.
Regards.
Garry.

Hi Garry, if they are happy to sit out in the open, there is an excellent viewing spot at the Yeadon end of the runway, next to Yeadon cemetary at the top of cemetary road. You can see most of the runway from there and if aircraft at using runway 14, the turning loop is just over the road. Aircraft start their take off run directly opposite. You can also go into the South Side of the airfield where there is a cafe available but the view is partially blocked by a hangar and you have to pay to park.

If it's a sunny, warm, calm day, hawthorne farm is a good spot to have especially outside. Whilst i can't guarantee that RWY 14 will be in use i can be 75% sure it will given the conditions. Sat there you'll get both arrivals and departures, as departures go into the Loop. Gives you very close proximity to the aircraft.

Bonus tip; head up during the week for around 12pm Tuesday/Wednesday the RAF practice on approaches etc.

Big thank you... I will be taking a small bus wit approx 6 people in to the area . most are wheelchair users but im sure will love the experience , the following week I will probably take the rest of the house if all is well.
Regards garry

I hope you have a good experience; warm weather is approaching but make sure your wrapped up regardless end of that RWY. It's exposed from all elements. Believe me haha.

If you are taking a minibus, I think the best place to go is the Square Monkey cafe at Multiflight. It is just off Victoria Avenue on the right before the road goes under the runway. Excellent cafe and views, and more importantly disabled toilet facilities. Really close to the small tiddlers and choppers as well.

If you are based in Huddersfield why not take them to Manchester Airport with a proper viewing area and facilities and much more to see. It must be about the same distance and time to either venue.

Agreed but never the less true !
No provision for enthusiast here at all.
In the scale of priorities not on the horizon.

It is hoped that they have plenty of money to pay for the Car Park at the Viewing Park!

They would still see a lot more aeroplanes at Manchester ! and different types and airlines.
However they are welcome to my place for an hour and a cup of tea if they like to see Ryanair and Jet2.

Manchester is a good viewing area and always interesting. Shame it is always raining (every time I go anyway), very expensive parking now (cost £8 last time for a few hours only), and in the coffee shop next to the Concorde hangar (which has never been open when I have been) they serve what has to be the worst coffee in England. Some good aircraft to look at though although the far runway is too far away to get good photographs unless you have a powerful zoom lens.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
