When I try (4 times so far) I get "Insecure site" so I 'm afraid I haven't been able to fill it in.

I have managed to complete, it was a financial safeguard on my computer that was stopping me

MAEL to support Sunwing Airlines
Wed 3 May 2017

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited (MAEL), the engineering division of Monarch, a leading low cost airline and holiday company, has signed a line maintenance technical handling agreement with Sunwing Airlines.

The agreement, which commences in May 2017, will provide the Canadian carrier with a full suite of line maintenance services to support the operator’s Boeing 737-800 based at Leeds Bradford Airport.

This line maintenance agreement with Monarch Aircraft Engineering is very important to our summer flying program. We were very impressed with their service in 2013 and happy to be working with them again this year.

John Barnard, Maintenance Operations Manager at Sunwing Airlines
Neil Kirby, Sales Manager at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, said: “We welcome back Sunwing Airlines as a returning customer and look forward to supporting their operation at our growing line maintenance station at Leeds Bradford Airport.”

Monarch have looked after Thomson's own aircraft at LBA in the past so this is a logical step. They may also have been responsible for Sunwing's maintenance at LBA when they were last over from Canada.

Clearly states in the press release that MEAL previously looked after Sunwing during there stay here at LBA 4+ years ago during the summer 2013 and that they were very happy with the service they received.
Also looking at the 4x UK bases Sunwing have LBA, NWI, DUB and BFS this summer I guess its makes sense that LBA was chosen, seen as its the only base that has MAEL doing line maintenance.

Now without going to far off topic seen as this is the Monarch thread.
Lets just hope Sunwing don't make the same mistakes as last time around. Positioning aircraft out empty leaving disgruntled passengers behind and causing big delays to the Thomson Holidays programme.

As I pointed out when it was announced that they were coming to Leeds again.
Give them a chance but not at all optomistic we won't see the same fiasco again.

But who makes such decisions? As I understand it the aircraft are Sunwing but the flights are for TUi, and are they not TUi aircrew? So is it Sunwing, over in Canada that make the decisions on what the aircraft do or TUi over here?

I have just seen G-ZBAV a Boeing 737-800 of Monarch transit from Prestwick southbound on FR24.
Is this the first of the new aircraft they have ordered ?

I believe Monarch has a Pegasus 737-800 on dry lease this summer so this could be the aeroplane in question.

Monarch have G-ZBAV (LN:3316) on long term lease as of now - it is ex-Pegasus who are in turn - moving towards an Airbus fleet.

The idea is to begin the process of slowly moving flight deck crew over to the 737, as the NG series shares commonality with the new MAX. Boeing have manged to achieve type rating commonality throughout the entire 737 production and the MAX will be the same - only a differences course/study is required.

It will be taking up base at Birmingham flying a number or routes for the rest of the summer with a growing group of pilots and cabin staff. In the winter it will begin to take on more routes.

The plan was to acquire a number of used 737-NGs as a transition, but last years financial woes may have changed that.

I would expect to see the larger bases transition to 737 first and think the Airbus will be at Leeds for sometime yet.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
