Something else I noticed on both aircraft was a notice on the forward passenger door - too far away to read but I guess it's to prohibit entry. I think 'lien' is the technical term.

That will be the airport company that's owed money. I suspect The aircraft won't be allowed to leave until certain bills have been paid hence reason buses blocking them in.
Another option the creditors have is to find and remove the log books from the aircraft. As the crew can't take-off without them onboard.

For those that remember 1990 Do two a320s take up as much room as 6 x s360s and 2 x 146s I wonder? Either way there are more losers than winners in all of this. It does show that any business has to be run profitably so we cant necessarily ever criticise LBA management for not throwing money at things willy nilly. I think its time to move forwards now however sad the monarch demise is for all concerned

The two (ex-) Monarch A320s are parked on remote stands, one behind the other and an airport bus behind them both, effectively blocking them in. I dare say this is a legal requirement from the lessons or another party with a financial interest in the aircraft. There are no steps or ground power units on either, just chocks. It's almost like they've been abandoned - a sorry sight.

I've heard things like this happening before but is it really necessary considering crew would first have to gain entry airside, secondly they would require ATC clearance to manoeuvre and take-off?

You never watched Aeroplane repo on Discovery channel before? if not take a look at it. I'll say no more!

Wouldn't be surprised if G-ZBAR dissappears first seen as she's owned by Air Malta and was on lease to Monarch.

I had it with my Aztec when it was being used by an air taxi / mini airline which ceased trading.
The Isle of Man Airport parked a fire engine in front of it and I as the owner had to pay the fees outstanding to release the aircraft.

I am sure history will show that the takeover by Greybull should never have taken place.
The only factor Greybull could use to make the business profitable was to refuse to honour the fuel futures that Monarch held in October 2014 and buy fuel on the open market around 60 dollars a barrel when all the competition holding futures at 150 dollars as fuel prices dropped 50% in July2014.
On another well known aviation site I was slaughtered when in 2015 once Greybull started to flog of the family silver, stating, with my Accountants hat on, not a long term strategy and more to get liquid funds in their hands, then drive the business forward. I was surprised Greybull invested £165m a year ago, but I bet like their investment in Comet its fully ring fenced and they walk away smelling of roses, whilst the whole staff get p45's. The boss got £583k a year, not sure he earned it.
Its certainly wonderful news for all other LCC operators in the European bucket and spade market and a wonderful chance for IAG to consolidate their european LCC network and soak up some Gatwick slots.

Another case of corporate manipulation and greed if you are correct.
The banks were the people who forced Dan-Air into a sale to British Airways for £1 and we have all now seen how they conduct themselves.

Are these Wamos flights doubling up on rescue flights, or is it just the case that they do not want to risk an A330 into LBA?

Disappointing as it is that we are not getting the juicy stuff into LBA we again need to put this into perspective. This is now CAA money being spent to help otherwise potentially stranded pax so I for one know that if I was abroad right now and needed to get home I would be more than happy just to get back to the UK. In a couple of weeks time we are all going to need something else to post about and I also know if I was in a position to offer a ZB staff member a job, and they were right for the position, then I would.

G-ZBAR has just departed. Don't know who's crewing her or where she's going but she's gone. Back to Air Malta at Luqa, perhaps.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
