Monarch Airlines Airbus A320-SL, G-ZBAB left Leeds/bradford for what could have been potentially the last time ever late last night as she was positioned down to Birmingham as MON255P probably for its end of lease check by (MAEL) before hand back. Meanwhile A320, G-ZBAP positioned in from Manchester as MON377P to join A320, G-ZBAR as the 2x Leeds based aircraft.

She departed about an hour ago, heading up to EMA for repainting :s_sad

I have to say, AA and AB have served LBA extremely well. I hope their replacement aircraft have the same flexibility from LBA's demanding runway.

Here / Here. Hats off also to the flight deck crew and Monarch "ops".

Monarch's lack of diversions since the base opened has been truly astonishing in my humble opinion. I'd personally rate them 2nd after Ryanair in adapting to all the operational challenges landing on 32 /14 bring about. Let’s hope one day Jet 2 with their 737-800’s and KLM’s with E190’s can raise their performance from the current levels.

Goods news,

Looks like Monarch is staying for Winter 15/16 (up to Feb released so far)

ALC x 2 Weekly (MON & SAT)
BCN x 2 Weekly (FRI & SUN) but increases to x 3 Weekly in FEB
FAO x 2 Weekly (THU & SUN)
TFS x 1 Weekly (FRI)

Looks like more will be added as this looks half a schedule!

What's interesting is Heraklion has finally been taken off the drop down menu on Monarch as its been dropped, however Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Grenoble are still visible, so maybe these might be released at a later date.

Was anybody aware that Monarch now have another A320 sharklet?!?!

G-ZBAS delivered under a week ago and flying out of LTN, maybe we will see it at LBA this summer!

I understand it is a new airframe, which is odd as Monarch have just got rid of AA & AB which was there newest!

Who can understand Monarch's fleet strategy, it's completely bonkers.

Who knows but they have just undergone a major restructure. It maybe that the aircraft was on order prior to the restructure?

Just to add to Monarch's increases, looking at April for some selected routes which are bookable,

Monarch now has for April 2016

ALC x6 Weekly
BCN x4 Weekly
FAO x5 Weekly
LCA x2 Weekly
PMI x4 Weekly
MAH x1 Weekly
TFS x 3 Weekly

Quite a few increases! A few routes have yet to be announced however nothing past April is bookable yet, so this could be a little indication at what S16 might look like for MON.

It's good to see Monarch being on the ball for next year allowing their passengers to book with confidence.

Will all of Monarch's fleet eventually be changed to Boeings or will some Airbuses be kept on? What is the capacity of their Airbus A321s compared to the planned new 737s?

AH needs a engine change its suppose to be going in the jet2 hanger to be done by the monarch engineers
It was towed over to multiflight this afternoon

Airline commits to Leeds Bradford Airport after coming through turbulence

"Leeds Bradford Aiport represents a really exciting opportunity for Monarch as it's our most northerly base,"

Great to see Monarch making a verbal commitment to Leeds Bradford Airport but other than positive soundbites they have nothing new announced. Hopefully in the weeks and months ahead we might see more from them?

Monarch has started to release Summer 16 flights, however they are obviously not complete with the timetable as ALC is x6 weekly in April and bookable but in May it drops back down to x3 weekly. Not everything is on sale but its a good start

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
