I see the 1st LHR - LBA and LBA - LHR cancelled tomorrow, anyone know why? Thats not good after 4 days!!

Due to the volume of traffic at Heathrow the airport has a policy where domestic flights are cancelled first during bad weather. British Airways along with all other airlines have to comply with the Heathrow airport restriction.

Average of 50 is quite reassuring. Just hope my flight is not cancelled tommorow (SHT1345)

Before any conspiracies go into overdrive by some people dying to see this fail the early 1340/1341 is canx tomorrow because there have been 9 SH diversions and 5 canx (NOT including any LBA's) tonight and there are are knock on 12 cancellations tomorrow morning of which regrettably the 1340/1341 is one of them.

There were a healthy 60 booked southbound and it is desperately disappointing that this has happened but launching in Dec was always fraught with this and we haven't had any weather at LBA yet.....

So what are the chances of an Airbus A320 been sent up instead of the normal A319 on tomorrows midday SHT1346/1347 rotation ? Its what bmi use to do....

Due to poor forward sales, BA are reducing LBA down to 3 daily for S13. Changes already reflected in booking systems. BA are very disappointed with loads and yields on services and forward bookings. Also BA though the FF base would support the route, but due to more flights, majority are still using MAN.

Once again its a case of the local population voicing that they 'need an LHR link and will support it', but then not actually supporting it when it happens.

Oh dear I’ve now got to admit myself it sure dose look like British Airways have no plans to make this new Leeds – London Heathrow service work and that its just a slot sitter.
As the summer 2013 schedule has just been released and the timings are even worse than now. Also the service is been reduced from the current 4x daily down to 3x daily Sunday to Friday and 2x daily Saturday by looks of things.

LHR 09:40 LBA 10:40 = BA1340 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN
LBA 11:35 LHR 12:35 = BA1341 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN
LHR 14:10 LBA 15:10 = BA1342 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SUN
LBA 15:50 LHR 16:50 = BA1343 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SUN
LHR 18:55 LBA 19:55 = BA1344 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN
LBA 21:00 LHR 22:00 = BA1345 MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN

It has been posted elsewhere that the route will now go down to 3xdaily in S13..?

What do you mean "once again"

As in gone like bmi to LHR and Flybe to Gatwick. Neither route was pulled for the pots of gold they were raking in.......

Bmi operated for about 28 years - are you saying they did this without the support of the local population.

LGW isn't LHR.

I did say LBA-LHR is to re-start, as I am partly responsible for the route. It's currently planned at 3 daily with scope for increases.

Aircraft will be A319.

Wasn't it originally planned at 3x daily anyway - the extra afternoon sector that later appeared being a winter slot warmer

At the end, no the route was not being supported, hence it was pulled.

Why are you getting arsey with me anyway? Im not the one pulling flighrz All I can tell you is LBA-LHR is currently performing poorly, or would you like me to word it to your sensitivity?

And yes it was planned at 3 daily, but a 4th added for connectivity. You are quoting my words and using my knowledge so not quite sure what you are trying to prove?

I think BA were a bit too ambitious with a 4x daily to Heathrow. But I agree that the S13 times for the morning and evening flights need to change. The route would appeal to more people if the morning flight departed LHR at 07:30 and arrives into LBA at 08:15 whilst the evening flight should depart LHR at 20:30 and arrives into LBA at 21:15. The return flight in the morning should depart LBA at 09:00 and arrives into LHR at 09:45 whilst the evening flight should depart LBA at 22:00 and arrives into LHR at 22:45.

That not so true, bmi british midland killed the route as they were been lead on by there German owners. Lufthansa wanted the Heathrow slots so that they could open up more German routes and also for bmi to start to up routes to the Middle East, which in the long run didn't actually work for them, otherwise they might still been around now and making money. In there hay day british midland use to make a decent profit out of the Leeds/Bradford – Heathrow service when it had a decent timed schedule.

Oh the fact that they took of the Airbuses and put the smaller Embrear 145's on the route didn't help as it carried less passengers and even less baggage. Everyone knew what they were up too, Oh also let’s not also forget that they also messed around with the timings to make the service even less attractive by the time the route ended....

I believe BA were expecting to make heavy losses on this route. It is great that LBA has managed to attract BA, but I think everything points to this one being a slot warmer before the long-haul fleet is expanded.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
