Hi, quick question - are Ryanair operating next winter to Malaga? Just done a quick check and nothing showing in January, but other routes show as on sale. I have checked flight only with Jet2, and the dates I want with luggage its pretty expensive as I plan on doing a long stay.

You’ll probably be waiting a while, as Ryanair haven’t released there full winter 2025/26 schedule yet.

RYANAIR ANNOUNCES LEEDS BRADFORD SUMMER 2025 SCHEDULE

Ryanair today (Tues, 25 Mar) announced its Summer 2025 schedule for Leeds Bradford with 24 routes and extra frequencies on 15 popular summer holiday routes, such as Alicante, Faro, and Palma de Mallorca, providing Ryanair’s UK customers with more choice and regular connections at the lowest fares in Europe. This exciting new Summer 2025 schedule is underpinned by Ryanair’s 3 Leeds Bradford-based aircraft, which represent a local investment of $300M.

While Ryanair continues to grow UK traffic and tourism, regional connectivity and tourism is suffering under the new Labour Govt, which while “claiming” to champion growth, have bizarrely increased APD taxes on short-haul flights by £2 per passenger from 2026, damaging growth and making the UK uncompetitive. This APD tax hike further penalises ordinary UK families travelling abroad on holidays and deters millions of potential visitors to the UK, who will travel instead to countries like Sweden, Hungary, and Italy, who are abolishing aviation taxes or are reducing airport fees to stimulate growth. The anti-growth increase in UK APD is damaging tourism and economic growth in the UK regions, and Ryanair continues to call on Rachel Reeves to immediately abolish this APD tax – a move that would deliver immediate and much needed growth across the regions.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Jade Kirwan, said:
“Ryanair is pleased to announce our Summer 2025 schedule for Leeds Bradford with 24 exciting routes to choose from including must-visit city break destinations, like Dublin, Krakow, Wroclaw and Paris as well as top holiday hotspots, like Lanzarote, Ibiza, Porto and Tenerife, and all at the lowest fares in Europe. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also added extra frequencies on 15 of our most popular routes for Summer 2025, like Alicante, Faro, and Palma de Mallorca.

While this is great news for UK passengers looking to get away to soak up some sun this summer, Ryanair could be growing more rapidly to/from the UK, but Rachel Reeves’ bizarre decision to raise APD taxes by £2 per passenger damages these growth prospects, and in particular regional UK airports. If the UK Govt. wants to deliver growth, they should abolish their penal and damaging APD tax, which makes the UK uncompetitive when EU countries like Hungary, Ireland, Sweden and regions in Italy are abolishing aviation taxes, and winning dramatic traffic, tourism, and jobs growth from the UK as a result.”

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary says he’d consider buying China’s COMAC C919—if the price is right. A discount of 10–20% could sway the low-cost giant.

The C919 isn’t certified in Europe yet, but COMAC is actively working with EASA. If approved, it could shake up the Airbus–Boeing duopoly in Europe.

O’Leary’s interest may be a bargaining chip—or a real future bet. Either way, China’s C919 is no longer a fantasy. It’s knocking on Europe’s door.

I'd want to see the safety performance for a few years before stepping onboard an aircraft from a little known manufacturer.

Knowing MOL, this is just a way to keep Boeing and Airbus on their toes. Any confirmed tariffs will make it very hard for Boeing, but the last thing he needs is to change to a split fleet with huge training, maintenance and parts costs. But if he did, it's hard to inagine him looking beyond Airbus.

Is he bluffing…..

Ryanair Threatens to Cancel Order for More Than 300 Boeing Aircraft Worth Over $30 Billion Due to U.S. Tariffs

In a letter to a senior U.S. lawmaker, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary cautioned that proposed U.S. tariffs on European imports could put at risk the airline’s order of 330 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with a total list price exceeding $30 billion. O'Leary emphasized that the trade measures could disrupt Ryanair’s fleet expansion and impact thousands of American manufacturing jobs tied to Boeing's production.

Weirdly I would have thought Ryanair & MOL would be the ones seeking to take advantage of the China v USA tariff and the fact China has ordered its airlines not to take the Max aircraft.

They will certainly be able to take delivery sooner, as all those cancelled orders will be available to other airlines, but if the tariffs apply (there seems to be some hope that aviation will be excluded), and the price is significantly higher, then who knows? An order the size of Ryanairs would result in a huge additional cost to them, and an potentially killer blow to Boeing. Nice one Donald!

However , I think it's one of MOLs threats rather than a promise, to demonstrate what could happen. Changing to the Comac C919 would entail huge additional cost due to a split fleet, with crew training, engineering knowhow, parts etc.all a problem- assuming the aircrsft gets approval to operate here.

Oh yes I get the tariff situation with the EU, but as I say, I thought they’d be loving the Chinese situation.

As for the split fleets I doubt it. Airbus perhaps for the 21NEO but going to be waiting a while for those. The MAX10 is due to start been delivered soon, but still hasn’t got approval. So one wonders … will they convert over to the MAX9?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
