NO they board or should i say "board" the passengers way before the plane has even arrived on the ground. All you need to do is observe serviceair, on a non based a/c FR flight. They say it's boarding i'd say 20 minutes before it touches down. HOwever i agree that is very good business model, and it won't delay the flight. Or shouldn't if they use Gate 6/7 and not 5.

It would not have been a problem normally to wait at the steps, it's just that the weather was so awful. I was at the front, those at the tail end must have really felt the cold even if boarding started had started immediately.When boarding is ready, it's still a problem with LBA not the airlines.
Jet2 pax must suffer just the same as I know, and KLM to certain extent.
The airlines are doing their bit to create very low fares but the airport has done very little to help passengers over the last few years. The use of the primitive buses is limited as these are not airport apron models and have been designed for shoppers. How do you move 180 pax on LBA buses?
The airport needs to buy second hand Cobus models that carry more than 100 pax on the small version.
Cobus buses are used in krakow even for the nearest stand just a few metres away.This makes LBA look primitive indeed.

Ryanair.com have started to release summer 2012 flights from LBA.

Routes so far on sale include: Arrecife-Lanzarote, Dusseldorf-Weeze & Malaga.

So be sure to get onto the ryanair website early to make your bookings before the prices go up as they will do for sure.

There is a gap on monday for a/c of 6 hours based on 1330 dep and 1930 arr back in Leeds. So i do wonder if that may get filled.

Tuesday there is a gap in the morning till 1315 for a/c two, so i do again wonder if they will fill that.

Other then them two gaps, the aircraft look very well utalized for the winter timetable. Which is great. Well done FR on keeping the a/c busy. However i'm more concerned about these gaps, when they could operate 1 weekly flights with these gaps.

EI-EME, EI-DAC were both active flying in service, EI-ENX (FR11P) & EI-DHE (FR12P) both positioned in from Gerona and are here for winter storage and operational reason's.

There's been a rumour circulating that at least one additional aircraft will be based at Leeds. Assuming this is turns out to be correct, how many routes would one aircraft normally be able to serve? I would think there's still plenty of potential for more routes to be served from other bases too so maybe we can expect a little windfall of destinations in tomorrow's expected announcement.

Well, it all depends on frequency and where the aircraft are going. If tomorrow is another based unit, it could be 3-4 routes, but, if non based units are also thrown into the mix, could be more.

I wouldn't bet on ryanair to Berlin. With the new airport they have told ryanair to pay up or get lost. As of yet, they haven't decided what to do. I'd expect polish routes to compete wit wizz down the road.

Thinking about it, If they're to keep the new winter routes going through the summer months they're going to need the extra aircraft anyway I would think.

I can't imagine MOL making an appearance though unless there's going to be 1,000,000 million more "passengers and well paid jobs" pun intended.

Well I hope now that User001 is right and that Ryanair are not interested in Berlin from LBA - because Jet2 have just announced the route today, starting June 2012, 3 times a week. The news about Ryanair sounds really promising - could be a big week for route announcements - but lets hope that they find something different to operate rather than duplicating what we already have with Jet2 - unless of course it is a sun route with loads of potential for both.
