Ultimately though its up to the Captain and First officer - who's licenses are always on the line when they dispatch and therefore take a flight.

I would imagine they've ran the performance from Delta RWY32 to see if it can lift; found it can. So why not take it if the opportunity arises.

No matter what the geeks in HQ say it's always down to the people up front.

I've mentioned it before but before the runway extension the available runway length would be approx from delta taxiway, with todays more advanced engines and ryanairs buisness model (less heavy cases and more hand luggage) taking it from delta would be no issue at all.

It really isn't anything to do with Ryanair business model. It's quite simple.

The Captain and First officer based the figures they are given will run performance on their tablets (iPad or other such device). They'll run it full length of Runway 32 and then will run it with take off from Delta on Runway 32. If the iPad based on all the figures produces a solution whereby they can take Delta (so they can stop the aircraft and remain on the runway before V1) then why wouldn't they take it. So many variables go into this the biggest factor of course been the weather and runway condition (Dry, Wet, Damp etc). This performance is also taking into consideration loosing one engine on take off - it presumes worst case.

Tonight's Ryanair to Girona on an 800, once again took its take off runway from taxiway Delta, rotating just before the entrance to the loop. The earlier Paris Beauvais, which did the same on Friday, went full length- but was airborne before the road tunnel. This was the 2nd Girona departure recently to go from Delta.

Tonight's Ryanair to Dublin on an 800, once again took its take off runway from taxiway Delta, rotating just before the entrance to the loop. The earlier Paris Beauvais, which did the same on Friday, went full length- but was airborne before the road tunnel.

this is a non event. Flight deck calculate performance and if it works from an intersection it’s not an issue. Performance data has huge safety margins built in

Agreed. What creates the interest is that this is something that until recently, nobody recalls happening at LBA with aircraft as big as a 737. Usually, its just turbo props or aircraft up to the size of an E190. Then suddenly, its happening fairly regularly, even on flights to Spain. Presumably the loads aren't huge at this time of year, although on flights to Spain there's a reasonable amount of fuel on board.

Yes, I flew Britannia off 15 in 1980 to Ibiza. Full power held on the brakes then some serious acceleration. The climb out felt almost vertical!

Apparently the 737 Max is fitted with Boeing’s Short Field Performance (SFP) package as standard. It’s available as an option on the 800-I wonder if any of Ryanair’s 800s have SFP fitted?

Quite a few Ryanair 800s have SFP on the top of my head. Ei-GX registration all have it, and a few in the Malta Air fleet.

Ryanair will slash its operations in Germany this winter, cutting 24 routes and 800,000 seats across nine airports. The airline blames Berlin’s failure to reduce what it calls “excessive” location and air traffic charges, which it says are among the highest in Europe.

The move affects major airports including Berlin, Hamburg, and Memmingen. Smaller bases at Dortmund, Dresden, and Leipzig will remain closed.

“This is entirely avoidable,” said Ryanair CMO Dara Brady, urging Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder to “take urgent action to reform the ailing German aviation system.”

Ryanair has repeatedly warned the German government that rising charges and the aviation tax increase introduced in May 2024 would drive capacity to other EU markets. With today’s cuts, Germany will now see Ryanair’s winter operations shrink below last year’s levels.

This is why I love Ryanair. The continual battle against governments who use aviation as a whipping tool - taxes, continual stupid environmental BS taxes, ridiculous closures, inept stupid decisions etc. Europe needs more MOL characters now more than it's ever done.

I always use paper boarding passes just incase my mob breaks but yes from 12th not anymore. Apart from the ryanair app you can still use the ryanair.com site too. Guess if there is 2 or more on one booking then one has to scan the barcodes at the gate for all flying?

That information has been on t'internet at least 3 weeks ago to my knowledge. I had been looking for the confirmation as they originally planned 3 Nov.

I am glad I will be flying with them 6 Nov.
