Sunday 2 May 2021

Airport website departure page showing CityJet WX9367 departing BRS at 0005 to Montpellier. It would be in connection with the Bath v Montpellier Rugby Challenge Cup semi-final at Bath this afternoon, and presumably is a CRJ900 aircraft.

No doubt it brought the Montpellier party into BRS yesterday but I didn't check the movements for Friday.
Correct TLH, CityJet CRJ900 (EI-GEA) arrived yesterday from Montpellier (MPL).

Friday 7 May 2021

There are more departures and the same number of arrivals (10) than for quite a while.

easyJet: Belfast Int (x 2), Edinburgh (x 2), Newcastle, Glasgow, Inverness
Ryanair: Malaga
Blue Islands: Jersey
KLM: Amsterdam

Its good to see more airline services. Airports have suffered for well over a 12 month period. The green countries due to be announced next week will e kind to airports.

Airline movements beginning to pick up a bit.

On a wet and stormy afternoon I spent some time looking at the seat selector for some of the flights yet to depart (all easyJet) and, although the seat selector only gives an indication, the loads seem all over the place:

For what it's worth, given the controversy over green, amber and red lists and the fall-out from that, there are 30 departures listed.

Can't think of any sporting events that might be the reason.

Whilst on the subject of Movements etc, I notice that the BAC Corporate Shuttle between Walney Island (Barrow) and Bristol has restarted - Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft. It seems to be operating up to 2 x daily on weekdays. In 'normal times' it was 3 x daily on weekdays.

I presume the Airbus Corporate Shuttle - Hawarden/Bristol/Toulouse - with Loganair E145s remains non-operational.

The Toulouse airbus shuttle has not operated since April 2020.
Many thanks.

A Titan departure (ZT073 to Belfast International) is shown on the BRS web page departures list at 0800 tomorrow (Sat 12 June). I have no idea what it's for.

Saturday 12 June 2021

After a brief surfeit of routes a couple of weeks ago (up to 30 daily departures with most by easyJet) it's now fallen to Ryanair to fly the flag.

On 12 June there are just 13 departures:

3 by easyJet: Edinburgh, Faro and Glasgow

10 by Ryanair: Tenerife, Lanzarote, Dublin, Budapest, Palma, Kaunas, Gdansk, Bucharest, Poznan, Warsaw Modlin

In addition a Titan flight to Belfast Int is shown, as is an easyJet to Bristol (EZY8001 at departing at 1030).

Friday 2 July 2021

Departures board beginning to see a bit more action again. After a burst at the beginning of last month when there were 30 departures on one day, the last few weeks have typically been in the range 16-20 daily departures (and the same number of reciprocal arrivals).

The 2 July sees 30 again, viz:

easyJet (19): Malaga, Belfast International (x 3), Tenerife South, Lisbon, Edinburgh (x 4), Malta, Newcastle (x 2), Inverness, Isle of Man, Glasgow (x 2), Palma, Madrid

Ryanair (6): Las Palmas, Krakow, Malaga, Faro, Dublin, Alicante

Jet2 (2): Palma, Mahon

Loganair (1): Teesside

KLM (1): Amsterdam

Blue Islands (1): Jersey

As far as I can remember this will be the first time that easyJet has operated four Edinburgh return flights in one day since before the pandemic. The seat selector suggests the loadings are variable and not high on the northbound flights (didn't check the southbound flights), albeit the seat selector is only a general guide. The northbound flights, all on a 320, are in departure time order showing respectively 113, 135, 100 and 105 seats occupied.
