An A388 can land at EDI. The issue however is suitable taxiway width at certain points. Can EDI handle an A380
Would this be in addition to the route rumour from your Swissport buddy above?Pure speculation
I have heard and I use the word “rumour” that a certain ME carrier may be heading for EDI. This has been rumoured previously but I just wonder if there could be something in this one. We all like a bit of route gossip after all![]()
EDI have one stand (gate 16) that can accomodate a A388.OK the runways long enough but the taxiway can`t handle and parking isn`t there so that means No it can`t
handle an A380
With the production of the A380 now stopped, I doubt Edinburgh airport would seek to spend money upgrading its infrastructure to enable super-jumbo flights. That said, I suppose that does depend on what exactly is required at any particular given airport.OK the runways long enough but the taxiway can`t handle and parking isn`t there so that means No it can`t

Has there ever been any talk of route additions to Tbilisi and Belgrade?
Interesting about the taxiway back in 2003 I chartered the An124 for a job I hard at the time with 95 Tonnes of cargo onboard. We did not have any problems, as far as I know the124 is bigger and heavier than the 380, as far parking we parked it on the old runway.OK the runways long enough but the taxiway can`t handle and parking isn`t there so that means No it can`t

Not aware of any direct routes from EDI to Georgia or Serbia. Very unlikely to change. Air Serbia is a very small airline with a limited number of aircraft. Easiest connection would probably be with Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Happy to be corrected, but I don’t see their being much demand for a direct route. The same applies for Tbilisi. Air France offer route via Paris or KLM via Amsterdam on Georgian Airways.New here, Hi

Is whatever this relates to still likely to happen in S24 (getting a bit late if so) or will it be delayed?Fairly quiet start to the year so far with regard to route development. I wonder if this is about to change? Having passed through EDI earlier today and chatting to a handling agent buddy, it appears that Swissport have received a new request for services for S24. Not at liberty to say who from, but hopeful signs that something may well be just around the corner.
The latest pax projections for EDI is an interesting one. Predicted to hit 19m in the next 3.5 years. This is quite an increase. This means existing carriers likely to increase frequency or introduce new routes. Brand new carriers would also boost numbers. S24 is done re new things. W24 is different as we know. EK returning. I’m reliably informed that discussions with Ethiopian is very much still ongoing. Re S25, UA and a new destination Is a real live option. A certain fast growing US hub is on the radar. Is whatever this relates to still likely to happen in S24 (getting a bit late if so) or will it be delayed?
DEN I presume.Re S25, UA and a new destination Is a real live option. A certain fast growing US hub is on the radar.
Well you never know. Some airlines around this time of year release detail of new long haul routes or resumptions. I wonder if something could be on the horizon?![]()
