Pure speculation

I have heard and I use the word “rumour” that a certain ME carrier may be heading for EDI. This has been rumoured previously but I just wonder if there could be something in this one. We all like a bit of route gossip after all 😉
Would this be in addition to the route rumour from your Swissport buddy above?

A poster on FlyerTalk seemed fairly confident of EK adding EDI this year on the A350:

OK the runways long enough but the taxiway can`t handle and parking isn`t there so that means No it can`t
handle an A380

With the production of the A380 now stopped, I doubt Edinburgh airport would seek to spend money upgrading its infrastructure to enable super-jumbo flights. That said, I suppose that does depend on what exactly is required at any particular given airport.

New here, Hi👋

Has there ever been any talk of route additions to Tbilisi and Belgrade?
Welcome to the forum, unknownbearz and thank you for your contribution.
Sorry, that I can't help with your request. Hopefully, a member more familiar with airline operations 'north of the border', will be able to help. Alternatively, there is a 'Search' facility at the top of the page.

Regards

Kevin

Interesting about the taxiway back in 2003 I chartered the An124 for a job I hard at the time with 95 Tonnes of cargo onboard. We did not have any problems, as far as I know the124 is bigger and heavier than the 380, as far parking we parked it on the old runway.
As mention the new gates could take a 380 with a bit more paint.

But to be truthful if one came in it would cause major disruption in the terminal.

Not aware of any direct routes from EDI to Georgia or Serbia. Very unlikely to change. Air Serbia is a very small airline with a limited number of aircraft. Easiest connection would probably be with Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Happy to be corrected, but I don’t see their being much demand for a direct route. The same applies for Tbilisi. Air France offer route via Paris or KLM via Amsterdam on Georgian Airways.

Fairly quiet start to the year so far with regard to route development. I wonder if this is about to change? Having passed through EDI earlier today and chatting to a handling agent buddy, it appears that Swissport have received a new request for services for S24. Not at liberty to say who from, but hopeful signs that something may well be just around the corner.
Is whatever this relates to still likely to happen in S24 (getting a bit late if so) or will it be delayed?

The latest pax projections for EDI is an interesting one. Predicted to hit 19m in the next 3.5 years. This is quite an increase. This means existing carriers likely to increase frequency or introduce new routes. Brand new carriers would also boost numbers. S24 is done re new things. W24 is different as we know. EK returning. I’m reliably informed that discussions with Ethiopian is very much still ongoing. Re S25, UA and a new destination Is a real live option. A certain fast growing US hub is on the radar.

EDI-based Ecojet has signed an LOI for 20 (+30 options) of the P9 Linx aircraft being developed by ARC Aerosystems. No word on entry-into-service date but they are training ATR crew at the moment.

Some airlines around this time of year release detail of new long haul routes or resumptions. I wonder if something could be on the horizon? 🤔

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
