Birmingham Airport - Video Thread

A great nighttime approach into BHX. I believe it starts off over Cannock by the M6/M6 Toll junction, there is a little cloud then the lights sprawl all the way to the horizon. Once overhead JLR and Fort Dunlop, Central Birmingham can be seen in the distance.

The old terminal and tower look very neglected. The tower dosent look as if its used for anything. I know it will never happen but what a brilliant place it would make for enthusiasts. Where exactly is the film shot from?

No Woody, the old main terminal tower was demolished when the international pier was built. BHX has x 1 shiny new control tower (which i love) and an old non funcutional one as seen in the A330 video. I believe the fire station also has its own control tower ????

Great video. Am I right in thinking it was taken from the country park? Watched a head on video of some crosswind landings on 15 from December last year but when I walked the footpath from Bickenhill lane the runway is obscured by the earth bank, so where could it have been filmed from?

If you travel along Catherine-de-Barnes Lane from the airport then just past the junction with Clock Lane there is a public footpath on the right. This leads to some fields that offer decent views along the runway.

That's the footpath I walked down but couldn't see Jack!
The runway was visible from the gate but then became obscured as you walked along it. Do you have to go down to the wooden fence that runs alongside the A45?

It's been a while since I've been down there so it may have changed after the works.
