An article about the recent trade mission to Canada. They had a meeting with the OTTP who said that Birmingham is their best performing airport globally :)

Yet another UK link emerged when we met Marc Dupont, head of government relations for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, whose UK assets include a 48.3 per cent share in Birmingham Airport, which they say is their best-performing global airport holding.

Why are they selling their stake then ?

At the end of the day, they are a business and can see a profit by selling. It may seem as if they have no real interest in BHX, but that's how companies with large share portfolios work.

Hi there ray and all, what's all this issues with the handling agents that operate the groundhandling and baggage system. With all these reported delays and staff absence, the airport management needs to get these issues resolved quickly with the handling agents, otherwise it will spiral out of control, this wont promote birmingham airport that wants to handle and deal with 20 million passengers in the future....AndyC.

Re: Jet2 Handling

Did I read somewhere that Jet2 will be doing there own handling in S18 ?? At the moment they do half of the plane and the rest is still swissport, is that correct ??

At least if they did all there own handling, this would take some pressure off swissport in S18.

I'm not saying that it will or could happen at BHX, but Delta have just announced they'll be flying Amsterdam to Orlando from next March. This will be their first transatlantic route from Orlando and only their second long haul route from Orlando.

https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando...dds-non-stop-amsterdam-flight-to-orlando.html

For services to Orlando, we've all been expecting (or rather hoping) the likes of Primera, Jet2 or Monarch would start flying BHX to Orlando, but should we be so quick to rule out Delta (if AA or United weren't happy with New York, it's highly unlikely they'd look at Orlando from BHX). Clearly Amsterdam is a bigger airport than BHX, plus its a Skyteam hub which would probably have been a factor.

At the end of the day, its Birmingham and Orlando so we all know that pretty much nobodies going to operate this route (Thomson don't really count do they?)

I know what you mean about Thomson but as they are the only one who can be bothered suppose they count a bit

Hi there ray and all, although we don't have wow flying from Birmingham, but I see they are starting up transatlantic flights from Stansted......... AndyC

BHX voted joint best UK large terminal alongside Heathrow T5 in a Which survey, unsurprisingly Luton came bottom.

Survey conducted April /May so before the high season problems with Swissport/border control etc

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
