Hi there Ray and all, this will be my 500 th post to the forum, never thought I would get to this point, but does any one know when the next new Chief Executive will be announced, because the airport needs now someone in high authority, to take responsibility... Andyc

Ive lost interest in the announcement of the CEO to be honest Andy

CONGRATS on your 500th Post (y)

Congratulations Mr Clarkson :)

As said it was rumoured a few months ago that a new CEO had been appointed but obviously we've heard nothing. With several members of the higher management now moving on it could be a sign that something is imminent?

Hi there Ray and all, thanks for all those kind words, it means a lot to me that all those posts I have sent in the past up until now have made the contribution and the forum the success that it has become, also to help the forum an even bigger success in the future.. Andyc

Well done Andrew but you need to speed up as I'm in danger of catching you up, mind you I do tend to rabbit on.

Best wishes

Well done Andrew. Always a pleasure.

Regarding the CEO it is an astonishing situation. With Mr P leaving as well, I can only hope Mr W has the best possible crew around him. It is odd but I am sure not unique.

Whatever the position whilst a CEO and complete too team will provide stability our current dip is caused by a number of factors and even with Mr K in place I doubt if there was much the team could have done.

Let's keep our fingers that the dip is not the start of a slump and whoever leads the top team retains the confidence of the airlines and the airport owners.

The last 4 months have had a drop in passenger numbers, but compare those months to the year before and we're down Monarch, United & Icelandair to name a few. I think until that capacity is replaced we are likely to continue to see a dip in passenger numbers.

United's is all but replaced now (assuming Primera are successful and stick around).
Jet2 along with TUI & TCX are well on the way to replacing the capacity lost from Monarch. Certainly by S19 I would expect that capacity to be mostly replaced.
Primera have started offering Reykjavik so if that can be grown then the lost capacity there should be replaced also.

I just hope that the new team in charge take the opportunity of this dip to come up with a plan to move forward with - both in terms of the master plan and a plan to attract and more importantly keep airlines.

From Mr K to Mr P to Mr W to.......?

Anyone notice how the airport Chairman Tim Clarke made the comments in the fairly recent Primera interview?

With so many members of the senior team leaving I'm hoping that something is imminent.

Well so far weve gone from MR K to P to W and are left with MR D as in Dr Doolittle? but seriously something needs to happen soon, saw Andy Street yesterday on the Daily Politics on the BBC now he would do a job and a half for BHX a serious operator.

We are talking about a a role at a medium sized airport here.Mr Street is battling with blinkered central government and financial institutions to try and increase the quality of life for 3 million people.Bit of a step down.Lets let him get on with whats he's doing.

The other viewpoint is the dip was inevitable as a result of Mr K.s strategy and the team then had little influence.
It has already been mentioned on the forum that some of Mr K's team were unhappy about the number of airlines, many now gone or drastically reduced, who were duplicating routes.
On another note has anybody been following the WBA story where they seem to have declined from one of the best run clubs in England to being in the red in the space of year chasing impossible dreams.

No, running BHX is not a job for Andy Street. From a Midlands perspective he is in the right role for him at the moment. A man highly talented in so many ways he is doing a marvellous job in raising the profile of the whole West Midlands region.

I have said so before, i do question whether there is now going to be an appointment or will the future of BHX now be in the hands of the COO? I would also ask those posters who believe an appointment had been made or was in the offing, to come out and justify their comments or source.

I have to be honest given the midlanders lack of enthusiasm for long hauldirect from BHX I actually think this is a real possibility.

Im sorry but that is simply untrue, if Birmingham airport offered an extensive long haul programme, then maybe we could put that to the test, but as far as I am aware what is on offer at BHX, is very successful. We just need an airline to give BHX a go rather than sticking with what they know. That is the hard part.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
