Locked out again
I post this for information, friends. I lost access to forums4airports for a 2nd time for the last week (Aviador I tried to sent a message to you - did it get through please out of interest?). Last year my lockout was for over 2 months but perhaps my intelligence is improving with age and I have managed this morning to regain access by typing in my e-mail address into the top box (yes I hear 'Why wasn't this tried before?' :hilarious:!) but it still doesn't work with BHXsupporter. Has anyone else been so affected in the past? Hope this helps someone. Now to catch up with posting and liking

Birmingham Airport Awarded Star UK Airport 2018
Birmingham Airport has been awarded the Star UK Airport of 2018 by UK Travel Agents.

The Travel Bulletin Star Awards is the travel industry’s most prestigious awards event and honours some of the biggest names in the travel industry.

This is the fourth time that Birmingham Airport has won this award in the last five years and was up against strong competition amongst its peer group with entries from Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Stansted and Manchester.

This award adds to this year’s success with Birmingham Airport having recently been crowned the best second city airport thanks to the Which? annual airport survey, gaining the best overall score of the larger airports with 61 per cent, second only to London Heathrow T5.

This is another great accolade for Birmingham Airport, which has celebrated a period of extensive investment, to improve facilities and services for customers. Birmingham Airport is committed to always looking at new ways to improve their services and develop facilities at the airport. This was demonstrated earlier this month when we were named the UK’s most Family Friendly airport and today’s news further highlights how the airport is moving forward with our ongoing commitment to passengers.

Tom Screen, Acting Aviation Director, Birmingham Airport said: “The trade team at Birmingham Airport work tirelessly with the travel trade to promote and raise awareness of what the airport has to offer. Joint campaigns with airlines and tour operators ensure that high street, online and home based travel agents know they have a dedicated support team here at the Airport for any questions and queries.

“This accolade is also testament to the investment in facilities and customer service that has been on-going during 2018 to ensure we offer the best service to our passengers.”

The Travel Bulletin Awards serve to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence by acknowledging those suppliers that have flourished over the last 12 months and have provided the best products and services to travel agents nationwide.

The voting was conducted exclusively by high street, online and home-based travel agents over a 6-week period between April and June 2018. No nominations or supplier registrations were required so this was a completely open vote!

It looks there were a few problems last night. I kept trying to sign in to F4A.info and my phone would try .com!

Fortunately I'm hope now and all is well.

Hopefully the start of some permanent appointments to key positions. We will never move in the right direction without some quality leadership defining a clear strategy with some aspiration and vision

If anybody replies to this i guess its just a slow week

It's been a bit of a rough week when the only real news has been learning that New York and Toronto will most likely be unserved for a second year in a row :(

Hopefully towards the end of this month or into October we'll start to hear something a little more positive.

To be honest guys all the forums are quiet, ive stopped going on the other forum SSC becouse people are just talking about the same old stuff over and over and over again but nothing appears to be coming through which is new news. I hate to bring it up but i think its going to be a rough 12 months coming up and you only have to watch the news tonight to see what i mean. It begins with a B and ends with a T and it has an X in the middle.

And if you were an airline, why would you announce lots of expansion everywhere ? We dont know what is going to happen in March 2019 ??

However life must carry on as per normal i am told. So that is what i am going to do. :)

The sad thing for me is that I cannot remember a time when I voted because I had a genuine belief in the candidate that I was voting for or even had any sort of confidence in their policies. That's not just with reference to the EU but in politics in general.

It just seems to be about narrowing it down to who may be the least worst :(

Getting back to BHX, after the success of the Twitter live update service a similar system is to be launched for the users of Facebook.

It's often asked on here what capacity the current airport terminals have and I don't think we've had an exact answer. I've just been reading some of the documents for the terminal infill and some of the numbers are interesting.

The current total capacity is circa 18 mppa with 11-12 million for T1 and 6-7 million for T2. Anything above this would require a new terminal.

The new terminal infill is not expected to trigger an increase in passenger numbers, it is being added purely to improve the passenger experience. The report suggests that there are 'numerous' other developments that would need to take place to reach the quoted 18 mppa including security, stand development and immigration.

A report in 2007 suggested that the above number, along with a huge increase in the number of destinations served, would be reached some time around 2017. This would have been an increased of around 9 mppa on 2007 numbers and we've obviously fallen way short with an actual increase of just under 4 mppa, the 2008 recession was named as a key reason.

It was also noted that there is a planning restriction attached to the runway extension limiting 204,500 movements per annum. The report equates this to approx 27 mppa.

Solihull MBC intend this to go to the committee in the first week of October.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
