Are there any flights to Newquay still?

Online can see the likes of Ryanair / EasyJet etc but these all say one stop. I don't really want to fly to Dublin to get to Newquay!

Trains being quoted £390+ not even first class!!
One of my pet rants. Cornwall and Newcastle are 2 places that take a long time to get to, even from our enviably central location here in Brum. Affordable flights from Flybe would be most welcome.

Totally agree, Eastern Airways services to Newcastle were very useful. Newquay has been an on/off seasonal destination for many years. British Midland in the '70's and 80's and Flybe Mk1 in more recent times.
It does need good marketing however to educate midlanders of the option, because many were unaware of the services in the past.

Newquay has been an on off route for donkeys years.

First operating I think in the 1960s by British Eagle Airways originally with Viscounts and for a while with a BAC1-11 a weekly on Saturday service if my memory is correct They had one of the best colour schemes in my view who were formed by Harold Bamford a contemporary of Freddie Laker.

A little trip from down memory Lane I remember watching it from "the steps" at the Elmdon terminal.

Possible route for Flybe next summer?

I once advised my employer not to drive to Newcastle for a WBA football game but instead get a flight from BHX. He dismissed the idea as a fantasy of my interest in aviation. He decided to drive and regretted it. A previous job required a regular rotation from Redditch to Newcastle in a Ford Escort van, a near 20 hour slog for £3 per hour wage, mid 1990's.

I often suggested using the flight from BHX but it was deemed unprofitable.

The Plane Finder app is hilarious at times. Tonight it has the Aerotranscargo B744F EC-BBC from Nur-Sultan ( Kazakhstan) to Birmingham, listed under a Ryanair flight code FR6627, and routing Lanzarote to Edinburgh (ACE - EDI).

FR24 is fairly accurate but not fool proof. I have their Gold service that I use for gathering part of thd statistics for my daily and monthly reports.

I've just realised that not every exec movement appears in both arrivals AND departures. They also had problems for a few months when they listed TUI flights as operating into MAN, but with no actual times, when the flights actually served DSA This obviously was due to late changes to the route but with still the same flight numbers.

I hope that helps but I suppose it depends on your particular needs.

I'm assuming that most, if not all, of us know about the Youtube channel Airport Action which streams live from BHX.

Link below for those who may not have seen it, well worth a look (y)

Yeah watched it there Cat Ted jumped onto one of the mods phones and Blocked me so I created another account originally called I got banned by a Cat before it's final form Cat Got My Tongue. Brilliant stuff from them anyway BHX was rammed today. They will film EK A380 on Monday

I did put a link to Airport Action in the' Birmingham Airport - Video Thread' back in July -

but, no harm in promoting them again :)

Back then, they were having a lot of trouble with pixelation, but the livestream seems to have improved since then.

Massively still a few technical gremlins YouTube mostly or Kev's Phone being weird with YouTube Chat so he ended Wednesday early. They are Streaming tomorrow and after the Queens Funeral for EK on Monday which me and another guy told them about. Was trying to tell people who knew keep it quiet as we don't want a Man atop of his Van though he is Unlikely to do BHX to come and take there limelight

There is no EK388 on Monday, they had asked for three of their flights to maybe use BHX but all will now go to LHR

What about EK2569 so no A380 Tommorrow. Do we still have 1 I only saw one on FR24 whilst LHR is closed EK never ones to let BHX down have now. They could have used this as a Test flight for there A380 return to Birmingham. Potentially done Passenger Service on it from BHX by making it bookable

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
