We've mentioned in another thread that bmi regional seems to be cancelling flights every week these days, sometimes several days in a row.

I've been looking at Skytrax. I know we've discussed Skytrax before and accepted that people are more likely to submit reports about any airline or airport if they want a moan. That was not the case with bmi regional for a long time though: just the opposite in fact.

Between January 2013 and September 2014 there were 15 reports on the airline with 10 x 10/10, 4 x 9/10 and one 3/10 which was to do with a problem getting flight tickets altered.

Between September 2014 and this month there have been another nine reports with the scores being 1 x 9/10, 1 x 7/10, 1 x 6/10, 1 x 4/10, 1 x 3/10, 2 x 2/10 and 2 x 1/10. The last five reports have been 1, 3, 1, 6 and 2.

The alarming collapse in people's assessments is largely put down to cancelled and altered flights with regular customers saying they've had enough and will look elsewhere even if it means flying from, say Edinburgh, instead of Aberdeen.

If this airline doesn't get its act together soon I fear for its continued existence.

This situation follows the way that operations at Leeds went and as such made it impossible to rely on them and I had to find an alternative. However they are under new management now so lets hope they get their act together.

Jersey

Seems as though the bmi regional limited season Saturday's only JER has been axed. Was due to start Saturday 16 July but does not appear in Mayfly nor in the bmir booking engine.

Blue Islands (now Flybe franchised) is operating 2 x daily to JER on Saturdays in peak summer. Possibly the reason bmir pulled out.

I don't know if it's old news or not (apologies if it is), but a charter to Cagliari will operate next summer:

BM9358 BRS 0700 CAG 1050
(Aircraft then does a flight to MAN and back)
BM9395 CAG 1850 BRS 2040

Saturday's from June

I wasn't aware so thank you for posting (I had already noted your MAN post shortly before). Do you know which tour company it's operating for?

I think it may be sartadur, Cagliari on random carriers is usually to do with them. The route is bookable on charter flights.co.uk however.

Many thanks again.

bmiregional have sent an e-mail saying something "big" for Bristol is going to be announced on 31 October. Unclear if it's just a marketing thing (like win free flights to German christmas markets or such throughout November/December) or something more significant. Hard to imagine what they could do that would be "big" for Bristol, other than move HQ from Aberdeen (but then why would punters care).

before they lost the airbus contract they were going to move the maintenance down to brs from abz. so if it means more routes with extra planes then it could be thinking on them lines moving maintenance down here. it would mean building a hanger for the work.

Intriguing but if I had to guess I'd be inclined to go down the marketing line.

As you say, short of increasing the base size significantly and announcing some new routes it is hard to imagine what big initiative they could come with other than move their headquarters, and/or maintenance facility.

The only other thing I can think of is an intention to operate larger aircraft with BRS being the first airport to see them based.

I may be wrong but i'm sure i read somewhere that BMI were looking at the Embraer 170. I just can't remember where i saw it.

Bmi have added a second Hamburg service on Mondays and a Wednesday service to mxp for winter season
Perhaps that's the big news. :)

It could be but it's hardly big. My money is on a daily competition to win flights

My money is on a marketing initiative too. My 'big news' comment about HAM and MXP was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

The 'big news' is a 7 destination 7 day sale along with a competition each day. Nothing more exciting than that I'm aftraid
Many thanks. I think we all thought it would be something like that.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
