Lot of chatter about SQ 359 operation from next year. First has already been blocked for next year so when will it be confirmed?

I think SQ will see how the route beds down before making a decision.

For example, if loads and yield are strong, there is no point reducing capacity to the A350 unless you have the aircraft to increase frequency. If there are insufficient A350 to increase frequency, then why make any change?

Singapore Airlines has closed reservation for First Class cabin on Singapore - Manchester - Houston route, travel on/after 01JAN17

Roll on A350

Great news! I suspect the 359 will inaugurate in Jan, but an increase to daily may happen around April - when more a/c have arrived.

Yesterday they announced DME would receive the 359, twice per week from December.

Before we assume it will go daily in April (unless there has been anything official to suggest that), I think it would be helpful if anyone could provide information on how forward bookings are looking. From the only report I've seen mentioned on a forum from someone flying to IAH, it was very thin in economy. However, that was early days and if the situation ahead is more positive and / or demand for MAN-SIN is very strong then we could see daily in due course. Nevertheless, I suspect SQ will be wanting to see good demand on all sectors.

It will be great to see a spanking new a/c on the route anyway.

Some slightly odd SQ/BE codeshares announced by Routesonline earlier.

They include between MAN and Aberdeen, Belfast City and Southampton.

Unusually there is a codeshare between MAN and Dusseldorf, Amsterdam and Charles De Gaulle - which all have services to SIN in SQ. Unless this is aimed at the Houston market?

However, there are also a number of codeshares from BHX to Dusseldorf, Amsterdam and Charles De Gaulle. This may be because SQ is no longer daily from MAN, but it strikes me as a little unusual.

Any explanation would be gratefully received.

I agree Dobbo as I found it slightly puzzling too. The MAN code shares I assumed like you must be aimed at IAH as far as AMS, DUS and CDG are concerned. As for BHX, the implication is that pax who would normally fly from BHX should use flybe to connect with SQ flights from those 3 airports. I wonder how fares would compare MAN-SIN direct and BHX-SIN via say AMS, or for that matter onward destinations from SIN requiring 1 change from MAN but 2 from BHX.

There are hundred of meaningless codeshares all over the world - I am of the opinion the concept should be investigated and potentially made illegal.

i have no objection to traditional interlining through.

Oh and not all codeshares are equal are they !

If the route is a genuine codeshare then there needs to be a joint venture contract at the minimum.

As Scoot is a SQ company, posting here.

Scoot is looking at flying SIN-India-Europe on a 5th freedom basis. The only UK destination given was Manchester, and made a point of saying 'not London'.

Seems it would be in addition to the actual SQ flight, but tapping into the lucrative India market from Manchester.

With the amount of India rumours now, It's only a matter of time before BOM and/or DEL is served.

This is great news.

I think SQ previously flew SIN-BOM-MAN? If so I suspect this will be what we see in the first instance.

Shouldn't affect MAN-SIN on mainline SQ any more or less than the MEB3/4 so a good outcome if it happens.

So if it were to happen, the traffic would mainly be SIN-India and India-MAN? I guess it could attract some backpackers if prices were sufficiently cheaper than SQ for MAN-SIN, but we wouldn't want it to dilute the SQ service.

As for India, any airline please. After BKK, I should think Mumbai and Delhi must be next on the list of highest unserved routes from MAN, (maybe with PVG but that's another saga), and Air India seem focused on BHX.

Yes the traffic is mainly about SIN-India and MAN-India, with no real emphasis on MAN-SIN-MAN as SQ will have that route covered.

It could be a while off yet though, the India-Singapore bilateral needs amending.

I just wonder if someone might beat Scoot to a MAN-Indian route in the next year or so.

Just great to see SQ (in the wider sense) looking at MAN to operate routes to/from India and Bangkok. Long may their interest in MAN continue.

I do like it how there is the need to clarify that Manchester is "not London" - very funny!

Great to see so many things happening. Makes you wonder just how busy the airport will be in 5 years time...

F reservations reopened for January 2017 on SQ51/52.

This may indicate stronger than expected ticket sales over period requiring a larger B77W aircraft, but more likely to be a delay in receiving A350 aircraft (or another rejig of the order of switching them into the route network).

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
