The UK flag carrier has a strong presence in Manchester, with the airline transporting 53,600 one-way passengers to North America from the airport via London Heathrow in 2019.

I’m very sure that if BA had a connecting flight to Heathrow from BHX (geographically not needed I know!) they’d be connecting more than 53,600 passengers to North America. Sadly there’s no real way of really measuring BHXs net transatlantic traffic when people are driving down to Heathrow

Emerald Airlines (Ireland) (EAI, Dublin Int'l) plans to begin regional franchise operations for Aer Lingus(EI, Dublin Int'l) on March 27, 2022, nine months earlier than previously intended, ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed.

While the flights are not yet bookable through Aer Lingus's portal, Emerald Airlines plans to deploy its ATR72-600s under the Aer Lingus Regional brand on cross-Irish Sea routes out of Belfast City, Dublin Int'l, Cork, and Shannon as follows::

• out of Belfast: Birmingham Int'l (23x weekly), Edinburgh (19x weekly), East Midlands (16x weekly), Exeter (daily), Leeds/Bradford (16x weekly), and Manchester Int'l (25x weekly),
• out of Dublin: Aberdeen Dyce (6x weekly), Bristol Int'l (18x weekly), Edinburgh (27x weekly), Glasgow Int'l (30x weekly), Leeds/Bradford (17x weekly), and Newcastle, GB (daily),
• out of Cork: Bristol (5x weekly), Edinburgh (daily), and Glasgow (4x weekly), and
• out of Shannon: Edinburgh (3x weekly).

it seems they are just avoiding Ryanair at ORK/SNN, i can see BHX losing some Irish regional travellers to other airports as a result of the reduced choice of dates/times that Ryanair are offering.

SeanM reports on Twitter that emerald will operate 15 weekly flights to Dublin from March 2022. This would make a total of 5 daily EI flights to Dublin including mainline flights.

Emerald (AKA Aer Lingus Regional) have confirmed the start of BHX operations on 27th March. Up to 3x daily. They actually start 17th March to what will become 11 UK destinations by the end of May. They will have 6 ATR76 with up to 4 further to be added.

Birmingham-Belfast City is planned to be 20 weekly flights.
