Good news, although i presume it was due to a tech issue with one of the Fokkers that normally operate the route, or maybe a one off due to a high pax number.

Incidently, how are these new E190's of KLM configured?

They are configured in a 2+2 layout seating 100 passengers.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

So I wasn't imagining it then when I saw the Embrear go out yesterday morning. Fantastic!!

WYIA...do you have anymore information regarding the E190s possibly operating to the regional airports of the UK such as LBA and CWL. Was it a one off as thought or are KLC starting to slowly replace the F70 services with the E190.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Rumour was the E190 is going into CWL soon, not all day & as a nightstop aircraft - i think its just doing two rotations to start with.

Little change at Leeds as you can see.

For the summer - Cityhopper look to be doing as follows but it changes all the time so you never know :-

Aberdeen 2 Flights a day - 1 FK70 1 E190
Edinburgh 1 Flight a day - FK70
Glasgow 2 Flights a day - 1 E190 1 FK70
Newcastle 2 Flights a day - 2 FK70
DTValley 3 Flights a day - 3 FK70
Humberside 4 Flights a day - 4 FK70
Leeds 3 Flights a day - 3 FK70
Manchester 2 Flights a day - 1 E190 1 FK70
Liverpool 3 Flights a day - 3 FK70
Birmingham 1 Flight a day - FK70
Norwich 4 Flights a day - 4 FK70
Bristol 3 Flights a day - 3 FK70
London Heathrow 2 Flights a day - 2 FK70
Cardiff 3 Flights a day - 3 FK70 (No E190 shown in current timetable update)

Note that mainline 737 KLM flights are not shown above. Cityhopper rotations only.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Earlier this winter someone posted on a message board that one of CWL's three daily rotations was scheduled for the E190 in summer 10. I did some test bookings then for dates in summer 10 and the second rotation of the day was shown as E190.

Recently someone posted on a message board that the E190 had started at CWL (last week?) on one of the daily rotations but only for a few weeks - to the end of the winter schedules? I did some more test bookings for CWL-AMS in summer 10 and all rotations then showed F70s.

There are reports on the Fruit message board that LPL-AMS is to go to 4 x daily from May.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Yep mainline service quite afew UK airports, Aberdeen is another. I think its musical aircraft at the moment as they phase out the old F100s & F50. So should load dictate they have the flexability to put an E190 on a route for afew weeks.

No "official" line on the LPL as yet & still showing 3 daily in KLM's timetable software.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Hi

Just to let you all know that KLM City hopper have sent in to Leeds Bradford Embrear 190, PH-EZF from Amsterdam on the KLM1549 service this afternoon instead of the normal Fokker 70.

If anyone wants to see it on the deck, She is here until around 16:45. Before she departs back to Amsterdam on the KL1550 service

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

That's two jungle jets in less than a month now. Keep it up KLM.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

KLM cityhopper will retire its Fokker 50 fleet from operations tomorrow. Routes on which the aircraft flew will now be operated on Fokker 70 & Embraer 190 aircraft.

The airline has also parked its last Rolls Royce Tay 620 engined Fokker 100 (PH-OFE). The airline now has just 5 F100 on a standby & charter basis for the Summer. PH-OFL,M,N,O & P.

In April another 2 Embraer 190 aircraft will join the fleet.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

The ash has had a greater impact on Schiphol today. Yesterday KLM cancelled 90 flights, today that figure is 3x greater. Movements are now indefinitely on hold from Schiphol & the airlines are cancelling legs even through to tomorrow afternoon as the ash spreads across The Netherlands & Europe.

This evenings KL1551 into LBA is cancelled due to the closure of Schiphol & restriction of UK airspace until 0100 earliest.

Tomorrow’s flights are still active but it looks doubtful. Shares in AF KLM have plummeted & hundreds of crew and aircraft are stranded at Schiphol & outstations.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

KLM yesterday flew a test flight, A Boeing 737-800 to 41,000ft in Dutch Airspace after permission was granted. The airline said it experienced no issues & examination of the aircraft engines once back at the hanger showed no build up. They said they wanted to get back in the air as soon as possible & fly passengers. However such decisions are not to be made by airlines & some officials have reacted angrily to the statements made calling them cocky & irresponsible.

Its clear the pressure is really starting to build with some airlines loosing over $1million dollars for every hour flights don’t operate.

Lets just hope safety continues to take president over profit & flights are not permitted to depart until they are 100% positive the ash is no longer a risk. A decision that will be made by the authorities & not an airline CEO.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Air France, Lufthansa have all done similar and BA are doing one today. The problem is that if you don't fly through the ash, how on Earth does anyone know how dense it is, and how much damage (if any) it will cause. When the BA 747 flew into an ash cloud in the 80's it was straight into the ash close to the volcano. That would have to be far more severe than an ash cloud over 1000 miles from the volcano as it must dissipate to some degree in the atmosphere. At some point, someone will have to decide when the ash has reduced to a degree that is ceases to be a problem, but I agree that the airlines cannot make such a decision. I do think though that in the circumstances, airlines should be given some help by governments. This has the capacity to put airlines out of business, especially after the terrible recesssion, and that cannot be allowed to happen.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

With over 200 British Cockpit & Cabin Crew stuck in the UK & more than 40 aircraft on the ground in Amsterdam ready to get moving again - KLM cityhopper flew PH-KZG into Leeds yesterday afternoon. It Arrived from Humberside with lots of Crew onboard, then took another 20+ crew from Leeds. It flew them to Amsterdam to help get KLM up & running again. A near fully normal operation is expected by Friday to all European destinations.

If anyone was about you will have seen the Fokker 70 depart from the intersection off 32.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

It took off from the Intersection of 32? Do you mean where Delta meets 32?

Is that allowed!?

How did crews end up in the Uk and aircraft end up in Amsterdam?! did the crew all get ferrys home? Its also surprising that this plane flew from humberside to lba for more crew rather than sending them on buses!

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Yep, it turned right onto 32 from delta & went for it.

Yes it is allowed, well within the FK70 limits. The aircraft was not that heavy & it rotated level with Jet2.com offices. The Fokker70 is able to operate from London City too.

Most early departures made it out of the UK last Thursday before the airspace was closed & thats why many crew became stuck overseas but at least most aircraft got over to amsterdam before the lock down. Most eventually came back to the UK on ferry services.

Due to restrictions at Schiphol, the aircraft had to be into the UK & back asap so using a bus would have taken too much time - it was better to just take the ac into HUY then LBA. A FK70 also went to Norwich.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

I have seen KLM's take off short from there before. Eastern and Air South West have also done it before.

Eastern especially, do it pretty often if 32 in use. still plenty of runway left by taking the 32 intersection, no need for a J41 to backtrack. It also helps if something on approach, as it allows an a/c to takeoff instead of having to wait for one to land first.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
