Yes numerous airlines, some might be pushed into December but should hear about at least one next week.

The one I am aware of for next week is long haul. It may get delayed depending on how they announce the route, but if it doesn't get announced next week, don't worry, it doesn't mean it's not happening, it's just running late.

You guys are terrible! Looks like there is a long southerly clue on the Wiki page...

A Korean A319 HL8080 will arrive on 4th and stop until 6th. I'll not comment on why it's coming just yet.

I'll just leave this here (from the movements thread...)

Man City Arsenal looks like a good game...

A slip of the tongue?

In summing up the presentations, Rhys Whalley, Executive Director, Manchester China Forum spoke of how Manchester was proving itself to be a city of collaboration thanks to the combined e orts of the public and private sectors. He highlighted key successes which have contributed to the strengthening relationship between Manchester and China, of which securing direct ights between Manchester and China is one. Rhys explained how China would continue to be a huge opportunity for the UK and the Northern Powerhouse. Having secured transport links between Manchester and Beijing and Shanghai, Manchester China Forum seek further links with other cities in China, including Guangzhou.

May be the Air China approved application from around 18 months ago that may get moved to Hainan?

Possibly, I think it's likely that it is a mistake in relation to Air China obtaining approval for Manchester to Shanghai. There just seems to be confusion about whether Air China want to operate the route or sit on the permissions to either use or sell at a later date.

We know slots for Guangzhou have appeared, but I have no idea whether there is any permission to use the route or not.

That was my initial reaction too Dobbo. Unless of course it's the route announcement User suggested might happen this week?!

After all this time I cannot believe Shanghai would be announced with no forewarning or fanfare. The current trade delegation may well lead to something, but who knows what Air China or Hainan are thinking.

On the topic of economic benefit, no two places are identical, but imagine the benefits to the north of routes to Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Mumbai, Delhi...

It would be transformational to the way we could do business.

I did wonder myself "if" there is an annoucement due with the trade mission.

Opportunity to announce "good news" perhaps?

Have said before China is so large you could almost operate flights to 3 or 4 separate destinations such are the distances involved.

It would be like dealing with 4 separate countries/markets.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
