Rugby World Cup coming up 🙂

The South African team will be headquartered at Birmingham University although I don't know whether they could fly into BHX. Would our runway be long enough for a plane to reach South Africa?

Also I see an extra Ryanair flight to Dublin. EI-DPD departed as FR6167 which operated last Thursday, too. I don't think Aer Lingus's Monday A319 (EI2268/9) is still going, though.

No idea if we're expecting anything though, I'm not big on rugby but do the teams have their own flights or will they just travel scheduled into LHR?

More often than not scheduled flights are used.I would doubt that a one off flight would be used,however it may also depend on how many people they will be bringing over as well as the team and their reps.

Tour ops would normally sort this out with accomodation and travel, so it's probably arranged with flights into London and coach to hotel.

Big delay on AP-BID operating PK791 from Islamabad, but by the time it landed it the delay was less than 20 minutes.

I'm not sure how that works, but as it stands we'll have AP-BID, VT-ANR and A6-EBL on the pier together, plus whatever else there is 🙂

I've been to LHR and spent the whole day there, slightly deafened at the end of it all but it was a fantastic trip, highlight ZK-OKP in the Hobbit livery 🙂

Apparently Turkmenistan will be using a 777 again today (although it's not confirmed on FR24 yet).

If so will this be the first time that BHX has handled five 777's in one day (not including diversions)?

I remember once two Emirates 777s diverting in, one from a snow-bound LHR and one from LGW, and they got parked on the international pier along with the BHX 777 and a PIA 777, and a First Choice 767 (remember them?) but I don't know whether anything else diverted in. This was 5 or 6 years ago now.

We did get a lot of heavy diversions in those days, but I presume it is the first time we've had 5 scheduled 777s in a day 🙂

Depending on when they all arrive, and if one or more of them is delayed (which they usually are), we could have Emirates, PIA, Turkmenistan and Air India on the ground at the same time!

There is a great photo of it on Gordon Stretch's Blog, we also had two Virgins 747's parked up remote. I didn't realise that we also had a Mexicana 767 divert in from LGW.

Eastern Airways E145 G-CGWV arrived on Friday evening and night stopped before departing on Saturday evening, I believe it was the plane that brought Sunderland down for their match with Aston Villa.

Depending on when they all arrive, and if one or more of them is delayed (which they usually are), we could have Emirates, PIA, Turkmenistan and Air India on the ground at the same time!

BHX is now the permanent base of SX-RFA which is being handled by Marshalls although I don't think we'll see that much of it. I wonder if we may see Gainjets 737's joining it in the future?

All three of Emirates flights today were on the higher density two class 77W's due to high loads.

With the above added to PIA, Air India, American, United, Thomson and Turkmenistan using a 777, today BHX has seen approx 5785 long haul seats available.

It must be some sort of record?
