I would imagine between BFS and LPL.
 
Hi there all, so where and who is going to be the one that will be the foundation to start this international expansion. Emirates, Turkish Airlines or Qatar when they return. Because if this does happen, why has it taken this long to arrive. It will take 5 to 10 years to establish, I'm sorry to say, but this should have been done years ago and not now.
 
I have spoken to a lot people recently about there recent experiences going through Birmingham Airport, 90% of people have said the same thing. They don't like the airport, because it's only got one terminal to deal with everything, which is a mistake on the management thinking, but also should be two separate terminals, then all the issues wouldn't be happening. The only reason why those people use Birmingham airport, is because they aren't prepared to pay extra from another airport. I was also informed that if Birmingham airport had consulted with the local residents and area, then answers and responses would be a lot different. But no he said, they don't ask those who fly from the airport much at all, but use consultants to get the right balance needed. Hence why Birmingham airport isn't busier as Luton or Stansted.
I still hear people referring to the " huge queues " at Birmingham Airport, but they are often referring to experiences earlier in the summer, and highlighted by local media, particularly TV. Since July things have gradually improved, and seem to be under control.
Friends of mine have today returned from Lanzarote, and have remarked how surprised they were with the experience at BHX, both going out and returning.
They landed at 3.50pm and were on stand at 3.55. They were home by 5pm! including a 20 minute taxi journey.

Not sure what you mean by " when they return" ?.

When you say international expansion, do you mean long-haul expansion? With pretty significant growth on the card from Easyjet and Ryanair, they would be the obvious ones to watch for major international growth from BHX but I suspect that's not what you're asking?

Those 3 airlines collectively fly up to 6x daily flights out of BHX daily ...when they return???

I know etihad are expecting to announce around 11 minimum routes in late November so that’s my honest prediction.

Qatar to expand to 10 weekly or even upgrade an aircraft

Love to see Austrian back as I think if it weren’t for covid they would of done brilliantly

I’ve seen a rumour on LinkedIn and X saying that the CEO of visit Britain is expected to visit China to discuss a possible deal for more flights to the uk including Birmingham,Manchester and London which are tourists citys

ah right, Qatar i would think is a possibilty, Etihad i can't see happening, Austrian to Vienna 3/4 times a week again could happen, PIA 0% chance, even if the ban is lifted (highly unlikely in 2024/5), they have no serviceable 777's, and LHR and MAN will be before us, and China flights, dont we need Chinese/UK government permission first before this can happen (likely to take ages)?
 
Nothing is confirmed yet and waiting for BHX to release their official numbers, but i suspect October saw the passing of 3 major passenger milestones:

- The busiest October on Record beating the previous 2018 record...
- The passing of 2019 Year-to-Date figures meaning that 2024 will be (at least) the second business year in BHX History, and...
- The passing of both 10m and 11m passenger's so far in 2024...

Will wait for the formal announcements but its been a great month for BHX
