Here is my usual monthly take on the CAA data - this time for January. As usual there are differences in the figures when comparing the various tables, however I have used Table 3, 9, 12.1, 12.3 and 13.

A full comparison of figures for January between 2019 to 2026 can be found here:

Hi there all, regarding this year's passenger numbers, I think that this years stats will need to be deleted due to current middle eastern situation. Birmingham Airports passenger numbers are going to be hit badly, so I think that this year now is to scrap and focus on 2027 instead.

Jan, Feb and Mar will all be record months and Easter is 10% up so no sign of being 'badly hit' !

to back what @IanFarquharson says, current pax figures don't suggest that. Marcg'26 looking to have pax figs up circa 3% making it a March record and that with nearly zero QR flights and the number of EK flights more than halved! hopefully with QR restarting next month, SV increasing to 4x weekly from Saturday, hopefully things are looking up in april.

Hi there all, any ideas what the passenger numbers could be at the end of year, another record set, then ready to set another record.

Indeed it is a great outcome and surprises me I assume the increase is from increased capacity from Ryanair and EasyJet showing their growing importance to BHX and compensating for the losses elsewhere due to the Middle East situation.

Hi there all, are there any months in the year, where there's less than 1,000,000 , passengers using the airport, why is this and how can this be improved.

Rollo

April was down -1.47% to 1,074,842 !

Not sure where you numbers come from ?

Ian

Confession time folks I looked at a press release by BHX for April alright but I've just re-read it it's dated for April but its 2019 apologies to everyone I'll leave it to Ian in future.

Currently - Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb & Mar are all under 1m pax.

Dec and Mar are not too far short but it will be a long time till Nov, Jan & Feb are over the 1m

...and yes, to back up Ian's numbers, i too have similar number for May at BHX...

May'26 = 1,303k pax (+3.2%)
YTD'26 = 4,991k pax (+1.9%)
RTM = 13,740k (+4.2%)

No mean feat, an amazing month given all the fuel issues and collapse in travel demand to the middle east. I also believe this was the first May on record we pass 50k pax a day, and did so on a number of occasions.

Need to wait for the formal CAA Stats to confirm but a great record breaking month!

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
