Use this prefix for new threads for Manchester Airport
Yes, I'll look at merging the two threads tomorrow when my laptop is powered back up. Suggestions always gratefully received at anytime.

March passengers 2,062,824 (+3.8%), 12 months 28,576,919

Stansted and East Midlands also with weaker growth than recent months (EMA is down 5.9%). The Easter school holidays not starting until April is probably a factor along with other things going on.

SUMMER 2019 - (Planned Air Transport Movements are currently +3.8% and Seats 6.8% compared with S18 season actual).

I think the CAA has excelled itself this time. Here we are on 5th May and still no data for March!
Have I missed something? Are they recovering from an excess of Easter eggs?

It is disappointing that they haven't been released yet!

You will remember that, when a couple of years or so ago the CAA opened a new website, their airport stats publication dates timescale slowed markedly. Prior to the new website they published provisional airport passenger stats around the middle of the next month, ie around 15 May for April's figures.

With the new website (which in itself I could never see why) the airport passenger figures came out later and later - up to three months late for a while. Over the past year they seem to have improved their publication date performance, but I can't ever remember any month in that time where they returned to their pre-new website timescale.

March's figures are slipping back into the timing territory of the imemdiate post-new website period.

I never understand why they take so long to come out. Airports have the figures to hand immediately, well I know BHX do, so I cannot imagine others would be any different. I have seen MAN & LTN public publish figures two days after month end before.

Don`t think Manchesters April are out yet, is there a problem?

Fleshing out the April numbers, the Business Desk states "Passenger numbers to Croatia were up 59.4%, Portugal saw growth of 35.3% whilst Finland was up 23.8%. ". Okay 2 touristy destination bumped up for Easter can be easily explained but so Finland there as well has got be to a shock

"Looking further afield, Jamaica saw growth of 38.9%, Mexico was up by 28.6%, Egypt by 28.2% and Singapore saw numbers increase by 25.3%. "

Could be an increase in traffic going to the Far East using Finnair?

Manchester Statistics - March 2019

Introduction

Back in September 2015 I decided that I should start to correlate statistics for Manchester and use 2005 as a reference point for historical data. My file now consists of 14 years of monthly figures and 486 destinations that have been served from Manchester over that period.

Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

No new destinations were served in March 2019.

Million passenger routes (Rolling annual figures)
Amsterdam - 1,045,310 passengers

The following domestic statistics are missing from the CAA report for March.

Summer planned Air Transport Movements are currently +3.6% and Seats 6.4% compared with S18 season actual.

Whilst I was doing work on another airport's statistics I thought that I should include a comparison of the 10 years difference in the monthly figures - so here are Manchester's figures for January-March 2009 compared with 2019:

January 2009 - 1,184,399
January 2019 - 1,780,813

February 2009- 1,146,606
February 2019 - 1,798,621

March 2009 - 1,346,712
March 2019 - 2,048,007

I plan to now incorporate these figures in my future monthly reports.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
