Excited to say that I've booked with Jet2holidays for the first time ever for November which will also see me using BHX for the first time ! Thomas cook don't operate to LPA from CWL at all, and don't operate LPA from BRS this winter , so best value turned out to be Jet2 ! Very much looking forward to using a new airline and a new airport !

I have booked the express lane for this week, not sure if to will make a difference with all the delays getting through security? :(

I used it last October and it was well worth it. The queue time was showing approx 25 mins, it took us less than 5.

I've booked it for August Bank Holiday weekend, which is one of the busiest times of the year, so we shall see if it works as well then.

Greetings all from Oporto.

Family is all tucked up already (been a long day) so I thought I'd quickly log on.

Came out on G-OZBX, I'd estimate 70%, ish. BHX was very busy but security moved steadily, around 25 mins from start to finish. Departure lounge was heaving but just managed to grab a table.

First impressions are that Porto is stunning, just had the most amazing salted codfish. Time now for a large glass of port so will hopefully add more upon our return.

Hope you and your family have a great holiday.

Time now for a large glass of port.

Well, you couldn't be in a better place to get that! If you can find a good Stilton in Porto, all the better.
One other thing. Have you ever tried chilled white port? It's very good and makes a wonderful aperitif!

Evening all.....lovely day for flying!

Flew BFS-BHX yesterday on G-EZAZ. 120 pax on flight I heard the flight attendant say. Back to BFS this afternoon on G-EZFX, full bar one seat. A rather twitchy flight, heat thermals maybe?
Hoping for G-ZBAV a week tomorrow on BHX-DLM. I believe it's down for the Monday afternoon run, if anyone can confirm or deny?

Many thanks in advance

Karl

Seat Guru has it down as a 738 but looking at the Monarch website and the seat map looks to be an A321 on the 26th? It looks like a 738 for the Monday after.

Thanks Ray,

I noticed the seatmap was an A321 too, but was hoping with all the training of late, that it would be out late this week or early next on scheduled flights. I can hope.

Cheers again

Hi All

Bit late to the party but we have recently returned from Cyprus
We fly out Sun 28th May from bhx to Larnarca with Monarch at 6.30am
As it was our honeymoon (familymoon as my wife stated) we booked for priority check in.
Got to airport about 3am and headed straight to our check in area. Our check wasn't showing as open but only 2 people ahead of us where as the main check in area was quite full. I believe there was about 4 Monarch flights going out at the same time. Even though it wasn't showing we checked in very quick. The best £9 I have spent.
Got through security quite quick and headed straight for weatherspoons for a breakfast. Was empty to start with but as soon as our breakfast arrived it was starting to fill up. The new duty free area, haven't used it since it was refurbished I think is very well done.
Our gate going was no 50. Had to go down some stairs by the kids sky zone. Never noticed this before but since I have returned I have read a report that this is a new area? We was then bused to the far end of the remote stands where our plane was parked.
Another extra I booked was the extra legroom. This was fantastic, I couldn't justify paying in total £180 for the return journey as well. But after being uncomfortable on the way back I think I may well do it the future. it was also a god send going as my son had the room to move about.
Larnarca airport coming back was a bit of a joke. We went for 10 days so coming back our flight was 9pm. It seemed like there most busy period. The shape of there airport if you can imagine is like a "T" with check in desks at the top of the T then security is like a bottle neck running down the T with the gates then off it. We got to the airport 2 hrs before we was due to take off. Again there was a few monarch ones taking off around the same time so the queue was busy. Took approx. 40mins to get checked in. We then walked to security to find the queue had snaked all round the airport. Couldn't believe the size of it. Although we was constantly moving by the time we showed our boarding passes, to passport control and then xray machines. We had 5 mins left before boarding. So had to rush to get something to eat. Once again we had to be bused to the plane and again at the other side of the airport. Once back to bham very quick through passport control and then luggage came off very quick too. Although the pushchair didn't come off carosel 1 as stated but the same one as the luggage. Found that out after 20 mins of waiting by number 1.
As we parked on the railway station in the past we use the monorail so was shocked to find it had closed at half 12 before it used to shut at 3am. Luckily it was dry night so had a nice walk back.
All in all another fantastic trip.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
