Hi all
We have just returned from a weeks holiday in gran canaria. Booked through jet2, overall very good. We flew out 22nd september, flight was at 4.10pm. We got to airport about 12pm with anticipation of having to wait at least an hour for check in to open. To our surprise checkin was already open for gran canaria. Checked in and made our way to security, last time we flew at that time on a Saturday security was heaving so made the decision to pay for the express lane, but in fact it was quicker to have gone through normal line. Got through and headed straight for weatherspoons, managed to get a table quite quick. Once fed, we just relaxed. Headed towards end of pier and managed to see the a380 parked up, unbelievable the size of the plane and how they manage to fly. After a short break we then headed to our gate. Was disappointed to find out it was a leased aircraft for jet 2 which didnt go down too well with my 5 year old as he was looking forward to flying on the blue tail one. On our return to brum after an excellent holiday, we got through passport control very quick compared to previous years, also the lady that served us was very friendly and talkative. Always come across grumpy to me. Then we had the chaos, bags came through very quick. But as we had a pushchair we then waited for ages and no one seemed to know where they would be. Was told same carousel as bags, then a different carousel, then eventually they appeared by a door. All in all a very good experience.

One point i will say is, i really thought we was going to overshoot the runway on landing back at brum. It felt like an enternity to stop and when we turned off we had used the whole runway. It felt like the plane wasnt slowing at all so no idea what happened. Dont know if he came in too hot as it also appeared to take an age to get the front landing gear to touch the runway. May have panicked over nothing but certainly gave me a fright

Regards

Stephen

I didn't know there was a 4.30 in the morning. Safe journey.

Returned from Malaga on Sunday.
Was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency at T2 despite the lack of e-gates.
All 5 border gates were staffed and carousels 7 & 8 handled 4 consecutive inbounds well.
Arrival to picking up bags took 35 minutes.

Plus, got the bonus of the Ryanair fanfare! :):):):)

Can confirm that its official there is a 4.30a.m. flight fine but a strange and to be honest not a particularly nice experience passing through T2 border control.

There was a chap who was being interviewed by them in a glass office in full view of the que next to the passport control desks(30 minute wait) by 3 officers making notes, rubber gloves etc with 3more watching over including 2 who were armed plus 2 more behind the passport desks also armed. Obviously I've no idea what all of this was all about and I am totaly behind the security and immigration services in every way but surely this should be done in private away from the passing que and prying eyes mine included with many people commenting about it being carried out in public, just didn't seem right anyway bags were waiting and 40 minutes or so from off the plane to car so o.k.

Hey all,

Flew home on LY-VEA last night from BHX to DLM. 161 pax on board. Security fine, rolled down the runway at bang on 7.05pm which is a rarity for Thomas Cook.
I did note the Jet2 boarding opposite to PMI had a scattering of people waiting to board, which I thought unusual.
Used BHX the day before to fly to BHD on a day return. Flybe outbound at 12pm was 3/4 full and return at 8.15pm was half full or just over. Both good flights with great crew.
I find it a pleasure to use BHX. So well connected and quick to get through.

Cheers

Karl

Hey guys, just got to my hotel on the outskirts of Barcelona, it’s a balmy 25 degrees :joyful:

Had a great flight with Vueling, left BHX around 15 mins late but that’s fine and no probs at BHX, great experience.

Video trip report is in full motion, camera and phone getting hot hot hot, sooooo much footage taken and my main day of spotting to come tomorrow.

I’ve got my factor 30 ready for tomorrow as going to be outside for most of the day watching the planes before my flight back to BHX at 19.35.

Catch ya laters ;)

Just booked flights to Belfast for next summer. I'm looking forward to a weekend road trip around Northern Ireland :)

Think I'm going to book Amsterdam this week too, hopefully it won't be snowed off this time :nailbiting:

Couldn't wait any longer, flights to Amsterdam now booked (y)
Double celebration today then after that incredible won over the Mighty Millers.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
