Had a week or so in Mallorca recently - went to visit the beautiful Formentor beach in the north east of the island. Stunning.

Have a trip to Prague followed by Auckland and some Pacific Island hopping to round out the year.

Dobbo, may I ask which airline and route you are flying for Auckland?

We've got a short break to Vienna later this month on easyjet and then a return to Austria for a Lakes and Mountains type package holiday at the end of August.

Still pondering the winter break, but if long haul proves too difficult to agree and decide, then it may well be a week or 10 days in Spain or Majorca.

Yes - the EK one stopper, late departure ex MAN. Works better as you arrive in AKL mid morning, and I always fall asleep on night flights.

Would rather SQ, CX or another airline hubbed more like half way there to dodge the 17 odd hour DXB-AKL sector, but we don't yet have a night departure ex MAN so that was not an option on this occasion.

I have a couple coming up:

Berlin with Ryanair at the end of this month
Frankfurt with BA via LHR (work) in August
San Francisco with TCX in Oct - couldn't resist with their prices
HK/Tokyo with CX next April - went to HK last year and loved it so much (also have family there) so going again - hoping to get Rugby 7s tickets this time though!!! Never have been to Tokyo though, so excited to see what it's like. CX were offering an amazing fare - have 5 days in HK and 5 days in Tokyo, but when I looked at just Hong Kong return, it was £250 more expensive return each without the extra 2 flights to Tokyo?

In the process of booking my next big trip (aside from the other small breaks in between).

Looking at May 2019

MAN-SIN on SQ. 3 nights in Singapore.
SIN-HKT on Silk Air for 7 nights
HKT-HND (route as yet undecided, possibly Thai Air Asia) for 4 nights
HND-SIN (carrier not yet decided, but likely to be ANA
SIN-MAN on SQ.

Turning out to be cheaper than 2 weeks in Phuket with TUI based on current searching and forecasts!

Well, need the kids to be slightly older to get their own seats each and not on laps, but also due to planning I want to get it right. It won't get booked yet but at least planned.

We have Orlando next March, and Crete in Sept. Also have city breaks to Barcelona, Amsterdam and Hamburg booked so feel need to save up a little bit in between!

It's a long old trek to SIN. But a much better place to transit than the sandbox.

I have a cause to use them 2/3 times over the next year or two, I want to avoid the MEB3 if I can possibly avoid it!

One place I am keen to sample is Oman. Never thought of it before this time last year, goes to show the stimulus a direct service can have...

Just visited Warsaw - a great city!

Flying Cobalt from MAN in Larnaca - trying them out for the first time!

Oman was surprisingly lovely. Some more traditional middle eastern charm without the plastic skylines.

Booked another holiday, oops.

November 2018 off to Orlando again. Saw a deal with TUI that was too good to pass on. Only going for the week but the price was £1830 for 4 people, car hire, select seats on the Dreamliner and a 2 bedroom apartment right across from Universal Volcano Bay and around the lake from wet n' wild. Never flown into Sanford, so should be interesting all round. Even if the hotel/apartment is naff, it doesn't matter to us, it's a place to rest our head, not spend hours looking out of the Windows.

It all started as I was looking at the canaries for a weeks break, and the price of a half decent hotel was coming up at about £1600-ish, but then saw this deal pop up and thought 'sod it'. We only live once.

You've got a deal there user although the yanks are expert at extracting your dough from you whilst your there not to mention the kids.

Sanford is an interesting airport a bit of a throwback in time but efficient enough although immigration is pot luck (like many) enjoy we took the grandkids last October - brilliant every little kid should go given the chance.

Hi everyone.

I've just returned from a five night stay in Seattle travelling from Manchester with Icelandair via Keflavik. I was surprised that for a full fare airline and a 7 hour flight from Keflavik to Seattle no in flight food or drink was provided in the fare. You had to purchase if needed and no cash card only. Oh well you live and learn. Look at the small print. All flights were on time by the way.

Seattle what can I say apart from brilliant. If you are an aviation geek like me then this the place to visit. I did the Boeing factory tour, pick up from hotel included. The future of flight museum was good and I had the bonus of a Dreamlifter landing delivering a 787 fuselarge. The tour is brilliant, you cannot envisgae the enormity of the production line factory until you visit, its informative as well and covers all aspects of aircraft production. There were 787s for Oman, EL-AL and others, a UPS 748 in final assembly. Production methods are explained plus the new 767s tankers. Views across the field were impressive with 78s and others waiting to be delivered. No recording devices at all in the main production area are allowed however. Use the lockers provided.

I also did the museum of flight tour at Boeing field Renton. Again brilliant, well set out, informative and I allocated half a day for the visit I left at closing time 5pm!!! Very very enjoyable day, Concorde, B787, B747 prototype history maker, first air force one jet with Richard Nixon and Chinese PM look alikes!! and many many more. Had a bite to eat there as well, very good.

Seattle itself brilliant. Easy to get around if no car. Use the light rail system easy and affordable. Visit the Space needle tower, Chihuly gardens a must, museum of Pop and an Argosy harbour tour and also the Aquarium with its pesky sea otters, just brilliant. Just walk around take in the sights with very friendly people and no issues re personal safety.

Also visit Pike Place market a must. Make sure you see the fish guys throwing the fish to each other bizarre but thats Seattle.

I cannot praise it enough just brilliant from start to finish thats Seattle.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
