woohoo, we can now put the razor blades down....

so if Alicante looks potentially to increase to 6x weekly, Malaga introduced 2x weekly, I would imagine Barcelona to become daily/7x weekly??? cant imagine vuelling offering more flights to Alicante than Barcelona???

It does seem a little strange, adding one traditional sun route and doubling capacity on another as we go into the winter season. I'm not complaining though.

It's a long way off yet but if this does happen then I'd say that it bodes well for S17 and some potential increases. I wonder if the other rumoured routes of Palma, Rome and Paris will appear next year.

If those increases are confirmed for W16/17 i think its safe to say that it bodes very well indeed for expansion from Vueling in S17.

SPOT ON VUELING

In the heart of Brum.

Great photo taken yesterday by Metrogogo on SSC

Central Birmingham is looking so good now but when are they going to do something with the Big Top?

It's a shame that they couldn't cover the whole thing with advertising screens.

Indeed, maybe we need to tell the demolitian crew at the old central library to start on this when they have demolished that.

It looks like something from a "soviet" Moscow. :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Apologies.

The Big Top is the block in the top right of the picture, the one with the advertising board. It also includes the tall building behind.

At ground level it's not too bad as it's mainly shop frontages but if you stand back and look up then it's pretty grim.

For those into this type of thing click the link below for a Carl Chinn article on it's history.

Hi Richard,

Big Top used to be the name of a large main Post Office in central Birmingham in a triangle by Corporation Street, New Street and Bull Street.

It was the centre of the shopping area many moons ago, but the area has retained the name of the post office.

Come on boys, don't be so parochial.... For those of us 'out of town' please tell us what is the 'Big Top'.

The Big Top is the nickname Brummies call that building that has the Vueling Advert on the side, as well as the office block on top which is further back. It is a very outdated block that does nothing for the modern reputation of Birmingham. It is dingy, not nice looking and the shopping arcades within this building are not much better either. I call it a dollop of turd.

Thanks boys and now that you have shown me the pictures, i have to say i agree with you. Get rid of it!

But a note of caution friends, Brum still has some wonderful old buildings within the sphere of transport: Moor Street is such a gem, and whiling away a few moments there on a journey home from BHX to Kidder via New Street and the walk across town, for a moment I could picture Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson - but it was just a brief encounter!

Sorry for dragging you all off-topic.

and when I saw all this chatter on this thread, I was hoping the winder schedule was announced or firmed up, not talking about a bloody shopping centre!!! back on topic please!

W16/17

Sat & Thur

VY 1394 ALC 06:00 BHX 07:45

VY 1395 BHX 08:25 ALC 12:00

VY 1394 ALC 15:10 BHX 16:55
VY 1395 BHX 15:35 ALC 21:10

Nothing showing for Malaga yet.

ALC is in there at 3x weekly (there are connections on VY via BCN or IB via MAD on other days) but it's not on the website yet so anything could happen.

It's very early days for winter so expect more changes.

well that's great to see/here

with ALC at 3x weekly throughout winter, there is no way BCN will stay at 2x weekly.... just a case of watching this space.

Potentially, BCN 4x weekly, ALC 3x weekly and AGP 2x weekly???

Must be more tinkering with the schedules as supposed to be a 2 weekly TFS from June.

The MAN flight is bookable but BHX not at mo.

Every little helps... I notice Vueling's TFS operation is very small, at present they only fly to BCN with a FCO route to start soon. They have more flights to Tenerife North (the old Los Rodeos). TFS isn't a base yet, so it will be interesting to see what kind of operation they run.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
