Bit interesting to see what Norwegian have planned. The speculation seems to be never ending and I just wish they would get on and formally announce something now.

Birmingham-New York seems nailed on, yet for the other 2 regionals Norwegian serve, they have just said 'routes going west', meaning BHX-NYC likely first with no firm routes for the other 2.

Quite right Paul, we are all anxious for progress and new routes for BHX. But we know that 'peeking' into the future does not always bring the results we want...

Quite agree, the rumours surrounding Norwegian have seemed to change almost on a weekly basis. Whilst this is probably the most solid piece of info yet I still remain cautious.

As for any announcement I imagine that they will need firm delivery dates from Boeing before committing. Indications seem to be sometime between March and May for the MAX but Cork has pretty much been promised the first for their route to Boston.

Surely though if they were going to launch new routes from BHX in May then they would need to put them on sale pretty soon to do the advertising and promotion for the flights?

Norwegian always seem to leave things late and they have already said that announcements regarding the MAX will be sometime in Nov/Dec.

May was purely guess work by me based on quotes about the deliveries starting around that time. Cork appears to be first on the list so anything from BHX may not even be till June or July.

ORK-BOS already has a schedule so obviously ready to go. As far as I know, ORK is awaiting the Irish AOC DOT approval whereas I believe UK routes will use existing AOC's that are allowed by DOT

Barcelona is back from the end of March, currently showing 2x weekly but this year it increased to 3x weekly. It also brings up the long haul connections from BCN including the US routes.

Las Palmas is also bookable next year, still weekly but a Sunday flight is showing via BCN.

No sign of Madrid as yet.

Seems they're loading their bases in stages, so assuming MAD returns and additional flights that operated this year were continued into S17, the schedule would look like this:

Monday AGP, TFS
Tuesday MAD, BCN
Wednesday AGP, TFS
Thursday MAD, LPA, BCN
Friday AGP, TFS
Saturday AGP
Sunday MAD, BCN, LPA

Total: 15 weekly flights

I can see potential for a Tuesday LPA or Sunday TFS to be added in the future.

I've read that Norwegian are about to announce New York to Manchester & Edinburgh from May 2017.

"Flights from Manchester and Edinburgh to America will be available for as little as £200 return next year when Norwegian Airlines becomes the European launch airline of the 189-seater Boeing 737Max."

Buenos Dias from D8 5007 which I believe is currently at 38,000 feet over the Bay of Biscay. Flight is 100% full but the WiFi seems to be working well. Managed to fire a few WhatsApp pictures off, will upload some here next week. The aircraft is EI-FHY with the Boeing Sky Interior which I have to say is fabulous.

Looks like Madrid isn't returning next summer as it has now disappeared from the list of drop down destinations available from BHX. Four carriers on the route was never going to be sustainable but it's a shame to see Norwegian pulling off the route seeing as they were the first ones there. Hopefully they might replace it with something else.

Wonder what happened to the BHX/Norwegian relationship?

Seemed to be odds on that BHX would be the next UK base at one point, and now it's been left out of the USA based routes to the UK, down to 4 routes and now social media didn't even make a reference to Birmingham in its info on strikes:

This isn't a 'ooh look at BHX suffer' post, but I'd be genuinely be intrigued to know why it went from a seemingly lovey dovey relationship to one that we see now with little growth?

Pretty much the epitome of Norwegian and how fragmented the airline and its growth is. Didn't it take months to add Manchester to the front page list of UK destinations even though Manchester had more flights than BHX and EDI at the time, even though both were listed.
