The beta version is a work in progress. It shows every single destination in both to/from regardless of which destination you pick, but, if you try to book any random flights, it's stops you to say invalid.

I've just been having a look at the Norwegian prices and some of the BHX fares have gone a little haywire.

Barcelona - Everything looks normal up until November then basic fares rise to £269.90 one way where LGW is around £29.90. Dec and Jan look normal then Feb and March see the rises again. Malaga and Madrid follow a similar pattern with the high prices on those continuing into June.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria are now showing basic fares as £339.90 in November whereas LGW is usually under £100. Again Dec and Jan look normal but most of Feb and March see the rises again.

I really hope it's because the BHX timetable is being worked upon at the moment and not something more sinister :shok:

The prices seem to be getting worse with TFS and LPA now nearly £1000 return in November. Likewise MAD, AGP and BCN are now almost £800 return in November.

I can only think it's one of three things, a glitch in the system, the timetable being worked upon possibly for a base or it's the end of Norwegian at BHX.

Lets pray that the timetable is being worked upon.

The flights from EDI follow a similar pattern although their Tenerife and Malaga flights seem okay in Feb but rise again in March.

Incidentally some of the inbound fares to BHX in Feb look to be back to normal but outbound for Feb is still high.

I hope it's a sign that the two bases are being loaded.

User001 up at MAN has found that Vueling are going to start a base there, and the Vueling prices from Manchester have grown in an abnormal manner, just like Norwegian's down here.

Although I am just a little uncomfortable about the prices, I feel like good news from Norwegian may be just round the corner.

Those prices are not normal and have been inflated for a reason (unless there is a website glitch).

Realistically it's one of two reasons. They are either working on the timetable which could see a change in times and/or days of operation, possibly switching to a based aircraft, or they're killing the routes off ready to pull out.

There is movement at least so we should find out soon :smile:

In some cases it will definitely be because demand is high. If you look at tomorrows departure to Madrid there are only a few seats left on the 'flex' fare at £239. Many flights over the next few weeks or around the school holidays are the same and if they're not showing full then there are only a few top fares left.

These prices however seem totally different. Last week one way flights to Tenerife in November were going for around £80ish, similar to LGW. Suddenly every flight in November is now showing as £450 whereas LGW is still around the £60-80 mark. It could well be that there has been a sudden rush but November is hardly peak time and I'd very much doubt that all these seats would be near sold out. Likewise for Feb 2016, I could understand the half term week but not the rest.

My personal opinion is that they are uploading a new timetable which will require significant operational changes and I'd say it's probably the best indication yet that there will be aircraft based.

I just hope it doesn't take too long as I'm itching to book for next year :smile:

My brother, who worked for easy jet and now works for Norwegian from Gatwick, said the company announced to its employees that its next major base for long haul is Birmingham and have already advertised the transfers which my bro has jumped at. He said it should be happening within the next 6-18 months and the airline are finalising stuff with the airport."

I'm usually dubious about the 'my Brothers, friends Aunt knows a guy who....' but on this occasion I think it may be not too far from the truth.

If they can make long haul work out of Bergen then they should have no problems out of BHX :smile:

Exciting if true - will wait for an official announcement before breaking open the champagne. All the signs do seem to be pointing towards a base for next year which will be fantastic. As for Long haul? Well that would be an added bonus and a X1 weekly Orlando/Vegas wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility. I hope we don't have to wait long to find out.

I think Bangkok would be doable in the future.

I recently read an article in which the guy from Norwegian said most of their long haul expansion would be west for the time being with east coming later.

“We are pushing back the plans for opening routes toward the east at least a couple of years,” he said, adding that the long-haul focus will remain on North America, where services are proving sufficiently lucrative in their own right.

They have crew bases in Fort Lauderdale and New York and are soon to open one on the West Coast in either Los Angeles or Oakland. They would require Dreamliner flights though and we don't know if BHX will get those or whether we will have to wait for the 737MAX. I've heard Baltimore and Chicago mentioned as possible destinations for the MAX but that's 2-3 years away so anything can happen.

As said Orlando and Vegas would be great for now but I want to hear about a base first :good:

Prices are back to normal.

Gran Canaria now averages between £30 and £60. Tenerife is a bit more erratic with a few flights well over £100, but most are much lower.

Some Barcelona flights in September are well over £100 but as we move on they range from £30 to £50 with a few costing between £70 and £80.

Madrid prices are low with many flights priced at £22.40. A few cost around £70 and £100 but there are few of those.

Malaga ranges from £29 to £100 but most flights cost less than £40.

Does anyone know why BHX remains the odd ball destination in Norwegians network that offers no connections what so ever?

It seems to be quite an odd situation, and one would think that for a base to materialise, they would offer connections, so to test what other routes could do well for D8?

We aren't the single odd-ball, cologne is the same. Granted there is only 2 of us but yes, we aren't the only ones with no connections via scandinavia

Apparently Norwegian are looking at starting flights to India in the future and BHX-BOM is a potential route if they can/do.

Stuart Buss leaves Gatwick to lead UK press office for budget airline Norwegian.

A UK press office has been set up for low-cost airline Norwegian, headed by former campaigns manager at Gatwick Airport, Stuart Buss.

The press office launch follows a period of growth that has seen Norwegian become the third largest airline at Gatwick. The airline also operates from Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester Airports with further plans for expansion in the UK.

A series of new UK routes and announcements are planned in the coming months, including long haul routes to Puerto Rico in November and Boston in 2016.

The press office will be led by Buss, who joins from Gatwick Airport. Buss previously worked at Crossrail.

He is joined by senior PR manager Carly O'Donnell, former PR manager at English Heritage. She has also worked at easyJet in the past.

Finally Chase Burns has moved from Golin where he was corporate manager, to take up the PR manager role at the airline.
