Can it be classed as a schedule at one a week?

I have some real concerns.

If the Birmingham Post ask a local business "do you welcome new scheduled services to China" of course they will say an emphatic yes !

Not sure it would be so emphatic if the explain its "one a week" for "10" weeks however!

Does "john smith" running a manufacturing facilty in Walsall fly out Saturday and wait a week for the return?

And that to me is the question that Paul Kehoe has to explain why that frequency is good enough for the size of market he's claiming.

Timings seem to have changed slightly. Saturday mornings will be busy.

Thanks to the BHX Blog.

Beijing Capital Airlines schedule from Tuesday 19 July 2016

Beijing - flight arrives at BHX at 0705 on Saturday - return flight leaves at 0930 on Saturday

Hangzhou - flight arrives at BHX at 2130 on Tuesday - return flight leaves at 2330 on Tuesday

Good to see the schedule and flights finally announced.

The U.K. Regions are looking good this summer, I think 2016 could be one of the best years in a long time.

Anna.aero going to have a busy time with cake of the week this summer!

Fantastic news! Two more destinations and a new airline. They are stacking up at BHX and we will need a cake tomorrow for Czech Airlines :)

PK messaged me on Twitter this morning and have confirmed they are seasonal until the end of October but are loaded on all GDS as scheduled. A major step!

What is the difference between scheduled and charter? In this instance, I'm struggling to see what differs from 2015 tmthat warrents the description of scheduled?

Hopefully something more substantial will come round the corner for 2017...

Scheduled flights are sold directly by the airline and charter flights don't normally sell business class. At least those thousands of inbound tourists can now fly directly to Birmingham (y)

Charter flights can only be sold via agreed travel againsts and are not available for sale to the wider public (United travel was the agent for the last 2 years) the airline, airport or 3rd party agent/websites are not allowed to sell...scheduled flights are available for anyone to buy through nearly any means. These flights for example will be avail through the airline, via every travel agent, and will be displayed and available on websites like skyscanner etc

This is a real statement of intent. I've already emailed this to one of my clients near Shanghai.
Seasonal flights, yes. Scheduled flights most definitely. Well done BHX!!
Now tell your friends!

Fantastic news. Like buses, wait for one and along come two. Looks like they will test the market and who knows we may hear news of a year round service or two before long.

Right China sorted: where next?

I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that 'china is sorted' but its certainly a great coup for the airport...

In 2014 = 3x flights on A332 (Single class / 248 pax) ~ capacity circa 1,450 seats annually
In 2015 = 17x flights on 763 (Two class / 223 pax) ~ capacity circa 7,550 seats annually
In 2016 = 30x flights on A332 (Two Class / 220 pax) ~ capacity circa 13,200 seats annually

Some pretty impressive growth... from small acorns and all that...

Interestingly, the BHX press release states that the Beijing Capital A330-200 has 211 seats (33/178) but all other routes (Madrid and Copenhagen) quote it as having 220 (but as they were charters, I don't know if that was single class or 2 class) any ideas???

Airline fleets suggests that they have 2x A330's, both with a C36 Y186 configuration.

A longer period, an extra city and now seeing it scheduled. Still a long way to go but they're all steps in the right direction (y)

Great news to finally have our direct flights to China confirmed. I was getting a little nervous the last few weeks but I knew what was going on behind the scenes. BHX wanted to move this market forward and confirm the important word in aviation which is SCHEDULED. This is a big step forward and yes whilst seasonal to start with, for an airport which has only just managed to get more than 10 million passengers which is up against much bigger airports both north and south, this is actually quite an incredible achievement for this airport and its city/region.

Well done BHX and Saturday in particular will be "BOOM" day at BHX from the 19th July 2016 right until the end of October. :)

From Paul Kehoe

...if pax are there then more will follow.

Well done BHX and Saturday in particular will be "BOOM" day at BHX from the 19th July 2016 right until the end of October. :)

I'm going to have to try and find an angle to get a shot of both sides of the pier. Saturday mornings will see American and United 757's, Emirates 77W, Thomson 787, Qatar 787 and Capital Airlines A330 :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
