Cargo

If reports are true there was an impressive cargo uplift on the Qatar flights today. What facilities does CWL currently have for handling freight and how viable would significant improvements be (if they are necessary)?

I have been advised a very impressive figure however not sure if this was a case of utilising a larger aircraft

With the Masterplan due out in the summer, hopefully sooner rather than later, infrastructure wise what do people expect to be in it?
Personally with Qatar now in place i expect a new cargo terminal might be at the top of the list.

If a new cargo warehouse are in the plans lets hope they plan for other cargo to be handled and not just Qatar.

I've no doubt that is the plan. Good cargo handling facilities in the long run could attract companies like Amazon to setup nearby.

I noticed when i was at the airport yesterday that there was a crane near the fuel farm. I'm not 100% sure but it looks like there are less fuel tanks than before. Anyone know why they have removed the tanks?

Better miles to the gallon with uprated engines lol.

Thanks to Cardiff Bay. & foxlimayankee for their swift and informative replies Ive posted on this thread so as not to thread drift on vueling

The space where WH Smith was is still boarded off. Does anyone think that it'll be used again and what could go there?

Apparently work has started on the second airbridge that was acquired from Gatwick with people seen painting it so hopefully that'll mean they might install it in November!

Condemned airbridge on stand 9 has been removed today.

Is it being replaced does anybody know ?
My understanding is the 2nd airbridge bought from Gatwick will go there meaning Cardiff has 2 airbridge that are fully movable and also meaning KLM will be able to use it and one airbridge with the current restriction of A320/757

If these works have been timed for the KLM cuts which i think they have then maybe the new bridge will be in operation for my flight on the 24th October

At present B737-800 can use Stand 9. It is to be known whether or not the B737-800 will still be able to use Stand 9 once the new airbridge has been installed. The airbridge is longer than the previous airbridge so there may not be enough room.
Would it just be an 800 or all versions of the 737 do you think?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
