'All Over the World'.

[Edit] On second thoughts, maybe that would make a great BHX advertising campaign

Legendary band and legendary idea...can see the advert now: smiling faces from a multitude of countries all heading to airports, or at airports or on planes, and cut to shots of assorted airlines in flight, taxiing, taking off and cut to shot scenes of people from all over the world descending on various locations around Brum and hinterland all to the sound of the mighty ELO and end it all off with "To Birmingham Airport from all over the world."

That's the sort of idea I was thing of. However I think the emphasis would be better reversed 'From Birmingham Airport to All Over the World'. My reason for this, is that the marketing would most likely be directed at UK residents.

Either way it works. :)

Yes, that certainly brings back memories :)

Back in the day, my cousin and I would regularly on a Saturday, trek from Bloxwich to Walsall by bus, Train to Birmingham and then bus out to BHX.
We always travelled on the top deck of the bus, and the excitement increased exponentially as B'ham airport came into view.
Would there be anything unusual there?
What would the day hold?
And, particularly in the autumn/winter months, would there be any diversions?

Cheers for the pic, Wolfheze.

Don't know about now but back then the buses didn't have seat cushions on the back seat, just a hard plastic bench. When the bus turned off Bickenhill lane into the NEC / Birmingham international you used to slide from one side of the bus to the other. :hilarious: Seems stupid now but we never got tired of it.

Sorry to change the subject a little but what do people think about these plans to redevelop the Smallbrook Queensway part of the City Centre which would include the demolition of an old Nightclub (Zanzibar/Pulse etc etc) and convert into a new residentail tower and the demolition of that awful concrete bridge thing that goes across Hurst street ??

This is what it would replace, confirmation that 60s Birmingham still exists. I know some people just love all this 60s stuff that went up in the city but i hate it.

We need taller buildings in the city centre. Too many stubby towers being built. In that location close to the Bentham Tower, and Clydesdale towers, another 40 or even 50 storey tower would have been great. Still it is better than what is there at present.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
