Its a virtual airline for flight simmers
The website does make that clear but I've often wondered who would set up up such sites. Would it be a school or college project for instance?

Otherwise why would anyone go to the trouble?

I'm not a simmer so this sort of thing is really above my head (no pun).

Its the Enthusiasts, Aspiring pilots (like myself) and flight simmers that set these up.

There's a network called VATSIM, which allows multiplayer flight simming and real-time air traffic controllers. Its really good fun and very realistic.

'Hardcore' flight simmers take that a step further, instead of being Bob and Dave in their C172s, they replicate airlines and their routes.

Groups of people began doing that, then the websites sprung up creating a real virtual airline community. For example, I am part of EasySim VA which is a rip-off easyJet.

There is even a program called smartACARS that track what you do and submit how you performed in your virtual flight to your virtual airline.

Also as a side note, there is a VATSIM equivalent of Flightradar24, you can track virtual aircraft!

Many thanks for that explanation, Callum. Fascinating!

Moors after a new manager. Ray can you squeeze the job in in downtime when not running BHX?

Tell you what Liam MacDonald is an extremely honorable man and clearer recognised that he failed. Can you imagine a premier league manager showing such professionalism and humility?

I see that Solihull Moors have appointed Richard Money as their new manager.

He has previously managed Walsall, where he was known by the Saddlers fans as 'Dickie Dosh'.
I wish him the very best of luck in his new post.

Part of the process. I think the organisers are embarrassed that no one considers the games important enough to put a late bid together. They havw onw bid which has some elements missing anf unless these can be completed the games may not happen at all. Now that would be disastrous so they have reopened the bidding which gives Brum some time but also late entries. I doubt if anyone else will come in though as their teams would have taken the foot off the gas. Kuala Lumpur will still focus on 2026 and it is clear that Victoria cannot get government backing.

Brum needs to pull out all the stops though if they have to prove they have secured the land for the village. Should have put that in place before the submission. Tut. Tut.

As for uncertainty of the government funding, I wonder if it is a with onw hand with give and the other we snatch back that our governments seem to employ for pretty much all "investment". They should invest to boost success. Long overdue in Birmingham.

Our chances are still excellent and this is what all bids and games go through.

Well as i said to the wife the other day when no other city put a bid in for the games somehow they'd find a way of not giving us the games . Birmingham somehow comes 2nd in a 1 horse race i don't know how or why this keeps happening but it always does .When Manchester got it they had to build just about everything at least we have the NIA , NEC and Alexander Stadium (but needs an extra 20,000 seats) .

I wish our football team could come second....but I agree oriona. It is a strange position that a city of such importance is so often overlooked.

Our time has come though and it'll be bostin.

Hey the new Birmingham based airline....Bostinair....slogan "Flying wiv us is alroight!"

Hi there Ray and all, any further news about if easyJet are in any talks at all about coming finally into Birmingham... AndyC

No further news Andy. Just a rumour at the moment. :cautious:

Sorry to put a downer on things, but is it even a rumour?

One thing does bug me about easyJet at BHX though. They do currently operate to Belfast, Geneva and Grenoble from Birmingham, so they're not completely averse to flying to BHX. Those routes are all served from other bases, so what's stopping easyJet serving BHX from some of their other bases - Palma, Nice, Berlin and Lisbon would do well I'd imagine.

If their happy to serve BHX from other bases, then surely they must be OK with BHX operating charges. The only thing I can think of that could be an issue is charges to do with overnight parking of aircraft. Any other ideas? Clearly just speculation on all parts.

Two of these routes are already served by other airlines and other two by an airline that's gone bust. Maybe that's why Easy are wary.
And isn't to much competition on served routes that the previous, suddenly gone, CEO encouraged the reason
so many airlines will not be serving bhx next year.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
