Watching the test match at present and thinking how civilized the crowd
Have you been at Edgbaston late afternoon during an Ashes test? Civilized would not be every ones description.
But that is why so many England players have said it is their favourite test ground.
Check the You Tube footage of the Flintoff v Ponting over in 2005.

Watching the test match at present and thinking how civilized the crowd are with a pretty even split of mostly locals all mixed together supporting the two teams unlike football.I think Edgbaston is the best stadium in Birmingham with great views of the city skyline with plenty of cranes in view (note to Brumx).

St Andrews is obviously the next best stadium in Birmingham.

The strangest ground I ever went to was the old Sheff Utds Bramwell Lane which only had 3 sides with a Cricket ground as the 4th side which suited the Blues no end as they could boot the ball miles away towards the Pavillion I think Yorkshire used to play matches there
Worcesters New Road is my nearest and a lovely venue, back to the test.

Brum X always loves this view

One thing that i would love to see is them utilise this fantastic stadium for LIVE outdoor concerts and music festivals.I think it would be a great showcase for our city. It is not used enough in my opinion.

It will look even better in 2/3 years time when the stadium is made even bigger and the residential development gets built next door.

Never mind Radio 1 in Ibiza weekender, lets have a Radio 1 in Birmingham weekender and lets gets the party going in that stadium.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Yes I have but not that match, that's the trouble with those Aussies they keep playing to win, no manners at all I well remember Dennis Lille lobbing his illegal metal bat across the pitch when told to change it for a wooden one like the rest of the world uses.

58 is a bus I used to catch it or the 60 at the Wheatsheaf to go to the Blues or work at the BSA in Small Heath as an apprentice which come to think about it makes me a bit older than both but not much.

Lol, back to the cricket at Edgbaston shortly close game, wife's gone shopping!

58 is the bus used to catch to spot at Elmdon. It terminated just before the golf course and then you had to walk.
Always a sense of anticipation as you rounded the bend and the apron came into view followed 99 times out of 100
by disappointment.

Right by the the Arden Oak pub or whatever it's called now if it still exists .

Pretty sure the building is still there but not sure it is now.

It's now a Harvester.

There is still a small bar for those that aren't eating along with some nice outdoor seating. It's a shame that it isn't situated a few hundred metres further down the A45, it would make a great place to sit and watch the planes with a few beers.

So the football season started today with Leamington drawing 2-2 with altrincham away. I listened to live commentary in my garden which is 7 miles from 33. Passenger figures maybe down but the number of movements didn't seem to be different to last year
. Lovely to watch the stream of Jet 2 aircraft after lunch.

Do tui play music as you board or have they stopped

I only remember background music being played when we boarded last year but couldn't tell you what song. It wasn't loud though.

Norwegian had Can't Stop The Feeling blasting out when we boarded and I'm mentally preparing myself for that Jet2 song to be played repeatedly :)

Extend the ground further in 2 years ....????

Jet2 have reduced the music.
I flew to Krakow in December and it drove me mad !
But just got back from Antalya and hardly any music :)

Good stuff, I don't mind a bit but I'm glad it's been scaled back a little.

Whilst on the subject of holidays has anyone ever been to Bulgaria? Mrs F asked me earlier if it could be a possibility for next year but I've heard very mixed reviews. I've spoken to people who go back every year but I also know of someone who flew home after only a couple of days as they hated it.

Finally finished editing, uploading and sorting my photos taken at RIAT and my most recent ones from BHX

Just uploaded them into two respective albums

Would be great to know what you guys think if you could comment on the albums that would be fantastic, but go easy I am an amateur :D

Thanks guys :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
