Very sad to hear about Glenn Hoddle being taken seriously ill, hopefully he will pull through and be back on our screens in no time at all.

It's also a bit of a shock to see pictures of the Leicester City FC owners helicopter crashing in the stadium car park after tonight's game, there is no word yet regarding those on board.

Last year I saw his helicopter land at Birmingham where he boarded a private plane to Bangkok.

Yes, let's hope for a good outcome in both instances.

Thoughts and Prayers for both incidents and the Pittsburgh shooting. It doesn't matter that Albion drew thsee incidents are a factor of real life importance of family and not taking life for granted. Apparentley the LCFC owner was on board and rumors so to was the manager Claude Puel. On another tragic note a Brighton fan died in the stands against Wolves yesterday.

Lets hope all involved make a full recovery.
Sadly looks like all on board died. Very sad. Unfortunately tragedies like this happen. What makes this so graphic is where it took place and with the football media all around and will pain Leicester fans for a generation. He invested in a forgotten club who through his investment scaled heights they could never have dreamed of.

We take too much for granted, including flight.

Wasn't a good weekend for the aviation world.
With the LCFC helicopter crash. I've seen some hard to watch new footage which shows the flight from start to the aircraft disappearing out of control behind the stadium

Here are my thoughts/observations on the accident. I have left this post a few days as I felt sharing my opinion any earlier may have been too soon. If you agree or disagree with anything I observe please reply as I'd like to discuss this. Air travel is the safest form of travel and we should not shy away from looking at what went wrong:
At the start of the video, there is a visible plume of smoke that billows out of the exhaust but quickly stops. I've assumed that is condensation from the APU start-up or a bit of standing oil being burnt off components as they rapidly heat up. (If you watch a helicopter cold start video you'll notice a similar effect).
The helicopter manoeuvres after initially lifting, before climbing away from the stadium, which to me indicates there are no obvious signs of a problem which is why the pilot continued
Around about 58 seconds into the video the pilot then looks to begin to change direction with the tail rotor, which is achieved not by changing the speed, but by changing the blade pitch. This appears to be where things go wrong.
In the moments leading up to that turn, the tail rotor doesn't really appear to have been used, the direction of the helicopter does not change significantly. This suggests to me that mechanical failure could be the fault here. In a helicopter, once the tail rotor is lost there really isn't much anyone can do.
From just this video, and even eyewitness reports, including sounds of a loud bang and then the helicopter spinning, suggest (and only suggest) this may be a part catastrophically failing or snapping, or perhaps an impact from another object i.e a Drone which is also entirely plausible.
I must emphasise, all the observations and comments are completely my opinion, I could be entirely wrong. But I'm interested to know why a multi-million-pound helicopter can just drop out of the sky like that.

Furthermore, the Lion Air 737-8Max crash into the sea is dreadful, especially with reports that there was a problem written in the technical log and the flight proceeded.

Not good :(

Indonesian authorities grounded Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft Boeing are over there as well to help investigate what happened. If you go onto flightradar type JT610 click on the last flight it made the day it crashed and click on it''s playback you can see the plane dripping and gaining altitude before eventually crashing. Apparently The engines on the 737-MAX8's have vibated and caused issues, Not a good time for Boeing if that is the case with The Rolls Royce engine issues and now this.

Yes, the problem in the log of that aircraft was that the instruments were unreliable and that the Captain's readings were different from that of the First Officers and the backup.

Crazy this is, I thought instrument issues were a thing of the past. I hope it isn't something as simple as a blocked pitot tube, such as Birgenair Flight 301.

Just heard Ch4 going to Leeds.
Bizarre decision.

Why is it a Bizarre decision, Sky TV already have a location in Leeds so its obvious to me that the media organisations want to set up shop in the north of England, in both Leeds and Manchester.

Unfortunately for Birmingham it will become no more than a media desert with pretty much nothing unless something changes, however we are not to be downbeat as there is lots to look forward to in Brum with exciting things happening.

Today was not Brum's day, it was Leeds day and i congratulate them (y)

Don't worry it.s just window dressing to appease a patroniZing government policy. It will probably consist of a 1 minute sports report at the end of the London produced news. Where have i seen that before?
.Meanwhile the government will pour all its (our) money into the southeast.and our provincial cities should be grateful for 2 TV cameras
and a sports reporter.

I see our local BBC news has just lead with this story. They reported that Birmingham Councils difficulties
might have influenced the decision.Even our local BBC service cannot resist a dig at Brum..This from a 2 bit operation who's idea of an outside broadcast is a reporter on the studios balcony 6 feet from the presenter. I despair

If it were not to be Brum then Leeds was the wise choice. 3 major TV operations in Manchester is too many. Leeds is a good choice. Shame it is not Brum but I was never sure that we really offered anything too concrete. Is it the City Centre or a field next to the M42? If we are to win these things we need to have every thing lined up before we bid. Never mind.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
