Monarch final A300 Flights

I totally forgot about this until i read it somewhere, anybody booked on these flights ?????

Not on it myself but the flight has increased from a one hour trip to a two hour trip 🙂

A couple of tweaks for the summer, Tuesday mornings BOD has been replaced with a charter BHX-JSI-KVA-BHX and Sunday now sees GIB moving to the afternoon and PVK operating in the morning, this was operated by Flybe last year so it's good to see MON take it on rather than drop it.

It still looks to be 7x A321's and 2x A320's with the only gaps appearing on Sat mornings and Tue and Wed afternoons.

The Saturday morning gap has now been filled with another MAH.

Sundays final A300 flight has been reduced back to a little over one hour but will now be doing a fly past over MAN sometime between 15:15 and 15:30.

There was hope of this becoming a 2 hr flight but that is no longer possible...

A300-600R G-OJMR final flight will be on Sun 13 Apr departing LGW at 14:40, additional details:

The proposed extension that we evaluated was to accommodate a possible landing at another airfield en-route to Birmingham, and a decision was taken against this after a number of concerns from passengers already booked on the flight who had booked onward connections (either by rail or air) based on a 1hr flight. The reason for notification of a 2hr flight was to ensure that no passengers booked themselves on to tight connections that they may have ended up missing. It is likely that the flight will end up being a little over an hour.

Following a significant amount of discussion with Manchester Airport, the flight will now operate with a low level fly past of Manchester Airport (MAN), weather permitting. The aircraft is not permitted to descend below 1,000ft, so any low cloud in the area, or other difficult weather conditions will mean that the flypast is cancelled.

If you have friends or family in the Manchester area that would be interested in viewing the fly past, the aircraft is expected to arrive at Manchester at between 3.15pm and 3.30pm local time.

Once the fly past is completed, weather permitting, the aircraft will proceed directly to Birmingham for landing. The aircraft will not land at Manchester.

Monarch's A300 G-OJMR made it's last commercial flight today from LGW to BHX, the top of the car park was heaving, even the police were up there with cameras at the ready.

How many international flights do Monarch operate out of Birmingham, and are they looking at expanding?

If you count the charters then Monarch have 36 destinations from BHX, I don't know how many weekly departures that is but a look at the timetable would tell. All nine aircraft are used pretty much to capacity, there were rumours of a 10th a couple of years back but nothing yet.

Is BHX one of Monarch's biggest bases?

Gatwick is the biggest followed by MAN with BHX third, then there is LTN, EMA and LBA.

According to the latest anna aero.com newsletter LGW is the largest MON base in terms of departures(155).MAN(138).BHX(130).That is departures per week.
In terms of destinations served BHX and MAN both number 26,while LGW serve 23.

Monarch Launch Two New Ski Routes From Birmingham Airport

Monarch Airlines Announces Schedule for Summer Next Year from Birmingham Airport

Monarch, the leading scheduled airline to leisure destinations today announces the launch of its schedule for Summer 2015 from Birmingham airport.

Changes to the schedule for Summer 2015 from Birmingham airport feature:
- 23 routes with increased frequencies on some of Monarch’s most popular destinations such as Faro and Venice
- Better weekend flight times and frequencies for short city breaks to destinations such as Venice, Nice and Barcelona
- Added frequencies to allow for a more flexible approach to booking five, seven or ten day holidays. Destinations include Paphos, Sharm el Sheikh and Venice

Despite the glossy headlines it appears BHX may well lose an aircraft next summer, the schedule isn't complete yet but at the moment there are only 8 units flying. If it is one aircraft down next year it pretty much cancels out the Thomas Cook expansion :nea:

Monarch Re: Summer 2015

Dont know why people on some other forums are having a "mare" about Monarch only basing 8 aircraft at BHX next summer compared to 9 this summer, the whole summer programme hasnt been released yet, only some of it.

I remember Ibiza not being on sale in round 1 last year, i really dont think Monarch would drop Ibiza, it is a popular route, especially in mid summer.

At the moment Birmingham, Manchester and Gatwick all show one less based aircraft with MAN down 25 flights, BHX down 22 flights and LGW down 21 flights with all losing four routes. As said the timetable isn't fully completed but the schedule as it is fits in with IBZ most likely to be added as a night flight. EMA and LBA timetables are still to be released so they may see an extra aircraft each, BHX may see the timetable change with another aircraft added back in or it could be a totally new base.

If it does stay at eight based then it'll be disappointing as it will pretty much cancel out the extra TCX capacity and most likely rule out getting anywhere near to 10mppa in 2015.
