Summer 16 is now on sale. After a quick look there doesn't appear to be anything new, not looked at frequencies yet.

Great to see Summer 16 on sale from Monarch. A big player at BHX lets not forget.

How different from a year ago when it was all doom and gloom at Monarch and a bit boring at BHX. 1 year later, Monarch summer 2016 is on sale and we are hardly talking about them ????

I am the first to admit, for a few weeks i totally forgot about them. So far this summer its been about Norweigan, Vueling and now WIZZ. And ive gotta say, it feels a bit weird to have alot of variety all of a sudden.

But lets not forget about Monarch, they have stayed loyal to BHX and closed there base at EMA. I hope when we are searching for flights for Summer 2016 that Monarch are still in our minds. For me Ryanair sells itself and doesnt really need much marketing, however Monarch is a much smaller airline and needs local support.

I'm still not sure whether Monarch are a leisure or a low-lost carrier, or even what type of carrier they are marketing themselves as. Not the most consistent airline to have as your largest pax numbers carrier.

Sorry but i have to Disagree, i think Monarch have been and continue to be "consistent"

In the past when they were a charter airline and more recently still flew charter flights they were a leisure airline. After the re shuffle they re branded themselves as a low cost scheduled airline.

We all know the sorts of places they will fly us too in Summer 2016, probably being too "consistent" which is probably the reason why we are not talking about them too much.

They need to mix it up a bit to appear more interesting, however this is Monarch. They will still be flying us to Majorca, Canary islands, Alicante etc etc etc next year.

I cant really see much change from them in 2016 Re: New Routes if im being honest, i dont think they will take the risk. They know what there bread and butter is. Simples and "consistent"

Just seen on another forum that Monarch will have 8 based units in Summer 16.

Again, Mmmmmmmmmmmmm "consistent"

Doing what they do best :good:

Until they're more financially stable and the new aircraft come through I think it will be more of the same. Monarch have a loyal following that they probably don't want to upset yet.

Still 8 based.

Ibiza, Bodrum and Gibraltar aren't bookable yet.

Chania is showing flights on all days but when you try and book it says no dates available. This is the way Hurghada went :shok:

The three Greek flights (EFL, CFU and ZTH) are showing Enter Air codes as they have this year.

Preveza is still weekly on a Sunday with a ZB code.

Early days though.

Well their press release states that they have released circa 80% of their summer 16 schedule..... that new and additional routes will be announced in the coming months..... so we don't know everything just yet.....

Monarch Announce Summer 2016 Schedule from Birmingham Airport

Monarch has announced the launch of more than 80% of its summer schedule for 2016; including flights on sale from Birmingham Airport.

There’s 21 destinations now on sale for Summer 16 from Birmingham. The schedule includes popular destinations such as Barcelona, Venice, Alicante, Las Palmas, Larnaca and Tenerife.

Marjan Schoeke, Head of Network Development for Monarch Airlines comments: “We know our customers like time to plan their holidays in advance and take advantage of the best fares. The summer 2016 schedule is focused on our core short-haul, pan-European destinations. We are pleased to be able to release the most popular routes and destinations for advanced sale for next summer giving our customers a head start on planning their breaks!”

Birmingham Airport CEO Paul Kehoe, said: “This announcement by Monarch is great news for holidaymakers planning their summer getaway for next year. There is enormous demand here at Birmingham for summer hotspots across Europe and beyond, so we’re delighted to see Monarch respond by offering a choice of 21 destinations, all available for advanced sale now.”

Further flights and additional routes will be added to the Summer 16 scheduled in the coming months.

i suppose the news here isn't the 80% of the summer schedule that has been released, but instead the 20% of the schedule that's not been released.... what is going to happen? new routes, different routes, same routes, or even loss of routes.....?

The sentence that catches my eye is "Further flights and additional routes will be added to the Summer 16 scheduled in the coming months".
But Monarch do have 26 routes from BHX in all and 21 is 80 percent of 26.

indeed I noticed that too...... so we will just have to watch this space.... to my mind, its not even about new routes, growth can come equally from increases in capacity.... you only have to look at Monarchs winter schedule for that....

for me, its all about growth... at PK says, a growing airport attracts the attention of new airlines.... so lets just hope for growth in pax in any form...!!!

They will probably add Madrid ex BHX after the success Norweigan have had with this route, i can see it now. LOL

Heeheehee, yep.
I have consulted the Monarch website and to be honest it's not exactly clear as to which routes are currently bookable and which aren't. They've got the basic routes down there but not much else and certainly not as many as 21 routes. I suspect this may be because I've never been very good at looking up flights... :s_no

I think the key is what they say in the press release about putting their 'most popular' routes on sale in advance, it gets their main flights out before Norwegian and Ryanair.

I guess they can take their time over the rest and maybe see what the competition offer first.

Good to see an increase on IBZ, this used to be 4/5 weekly just a few years ago as i used to be a regular IBZ partygoer in my younger days. Now there are no ZB flights on a friday or saturday nights which for IBZ is a little strange for people wanting to go just for the weekend which lots of people do.

Like this weekend which is the annual BBC radio 1 IBIZA weekender. Awesome memories

Mmmmmmmmmmm i smell Norweigan

I forgot to add that Barcelona has also seen yet another increase for winter going up to 4x weekly with 5 flights in certain weeks. S16 has also been increased up to 6x weekly.

It's going to be quite a battle as Ryanair have also increased BCN up to 5x weekly for winter.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
