I thought I should use this but me and someone else have come up with the idea of possibly re-purposing the building to be a viewing area/visitor centre type thing.

Now it's just a case of making it work.
Good to hear from you again, Hassaan.

Thanks guys. :)

Yeah, the idea at this point is for it to be a charity/volunteer run thing. At least for now. It feels like the best option at the moment.

I have to reference Airport Action with my comments herein. The footage even if inadverted, shows the appalling state of the building, and is on the world wide web for all to see. This is supposedly a listed building, IS IT?

As I understand it, English Heritage is the body responsible for the upkeep of any building that has listed status, and from an interested citizen point of view, a serious case of neglect has occured. The owners have been shoddy at best and probably inept in the upkeep of a historical building.

As to the above, I would add that the building falls under the " National Heritage Act 1983 " and thus has legal protection. Within Civil Law, a claim may be submitted for neglect however this will carry significant costs, Barristers fees and research related to the case. Payable if losing the claim but also payable to the winning claim. You are looking at around 1 Million of relevent currency units. Law does not come cheap but I find it a grubby practice and have chosen not to engage,. I prefer the analytical aspect of Law, the theory if you like, it is about the logic and the variables of a case.

Nothing is clear cut , Especially if a Jury is involved.. Guilty as sin but aquitted by a jury? Go figure !

The Elmdon terminal is indeed a grade 2 listed building ref no1458322 which came into effect in 2018. It comes under the wing so to speak of Historic England aka English Heritage.

Therefore it is a protected building and quite rightly so.

Indeed it is, and your remarks are noted sir. It is a remaining sore upon the body of the people that have an interest in the building. Nothing else within aviation matches Elmdon in my view.

The 2018 master plan states they planned to fully refurbish it within 5 years. That time is almost up with nothing done.

Although Covid could well have put it back two years.

However I checked the latest agenda for the next planned BHX Airport Consultative Committee meeting coming up soon, just the other day.

In that it states the Elmdon Building is to be discussed to see if there are any prospects for it to be reopened and used again.

From that I formed the opinion it will only be refurbished if there is a business case, ie a company willing to operate from within it again..however I could be wrong .

Unfortunately unlike Manchester Airport that still has a very open consultative committee public reporting..BHX seem to have changed there's. amThey don't seem to print full details of the meeting contents or decisions about such matters anymore.

So not sure if they will update the decisions in the minutes of that meeting on this topic for public viewing..

I believe anyone can attend these meetings, so why not go along ?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
