Innsbruck and Chambery operate on Mon and Tues respectively for the Christmas Period and then both revert to Saturday’s from 1st week in January 2022.

BRS/Jet2 press release re ski season flights, winter 2021/2022.

It mentions Switzerland at the beginning of the press release but doesn't include it later in the specific destinations. However, a test booking on the Jet2 website brings up a weekly flight to GVA. easyJet is showing its usual 21 x weekly departures to GVA in the ski season and there is usually at least one weekly charter flight to GVA for tour operators. I don't know whether Jet2 takes seats on other airlines for its Jet2 Holidays. In the past Jet2 aircraft have been used as charter aircraft from BRS for ski flights (and winter sun) for other tour operators.

SZG and INN are also operated by easyJet in the ski season and there are usually weekly charter flights by other carriers for tour operators. GNB is operated by both easyJet and Ryanair in the ski season so Jet2 will be the third carrier. BRS has its usual extensive ski season programme with easyJet also operating to such destinations as Turin, Lyon, Sofia, Basel, Toulouse, Milan MXP, Toulouse and Basel and Ryanair to Sofia, Vienna, Bergamo, Bucharest and Turin.

In the past CMF has always been operated by charter flights for tour operators as it was at the beginning of last winter pre-pandemic.

If the next ski season is seriously affected by the pandemic there will be a lot of additional capacity to deal with. if things are more or less back to normal (wishful thinking?) then BRS should be well set up to continue with its ski season outperformance of many years standing.

Jet2.com has launched its first ever programme of ski services to France, Austria and Switzerland from Bristol Airport, giving skiers and snowboarders a fantastic choice of four ski destinations for Winter 21/22.

Jet2.com has put its programme of ski flights for Winter 21/22 on sale from Bristol Airport. The programme includes Chambery, Innsbruck, Grenoble and Salzburg giving skiers and snowboarders in the South West access to the best slopes in Europe. After a year away from the slopes, flights are expected to sell quickly as skiers head back to some of Europe’s best and most popular ski destinations.

Jet2.com’s full ski programme for Winter 21/22 is as follows:

  • Salzburg – weekly Saturday services opening up the best of the Austrian Alps and over 300 resorts including Kaprun, Mayrhofen and Obertauern to skiers.
  • Grenoble – the host of the 1968 Winter Olympics, Grenoble offers the perfect gateway to the French Alps, with over 175 incredible ski resorts nearby including Morzine, Chamonix, Chamrousse, Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d’Huez and Avoriaz. Weekly services available on a Sunday from Bristol Airport in Winter 21/22.
  • Innsbruck – host of the 1964 Winter Olympics and featuring resorts such as Igls, Alpbach and St Anton am Arlberg, Innsbruck is a firm favourite with skiers and snow sports fans year in year out. Customers can reach the Austrian Alps thanks to weekly Saturday services.
  • Chambery - based in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of south-eastern France, Chambery offers quick and easy access to some of the best ski resorts in France, including the largest ski areas in the world, the Three Valleys. The ski areas of the Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix, La Plagne and Val d'Isère are also accessible from Chambery, providing world-famous skiing whether you are a beginner or an expert. Weekly services will operate on Saturdays from mid-December to mid-April.
Booking and travelling on ski flights with Jet2.com means customers get to enjoy VIP customer service which has seen the UK’s third largest airline win numerous awards and accolades, as well as 10kg hand luggage and 22kg baggage* and 22kg ski carriage*. What’s more, customers can look to secure their place on the slopes next year for less, as the leading airline is offering 10% off all ski flights booked on or before 31st March.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be launching such an exciting ski programme for Winter 21/22 for the first time from Bristol Airport. With the best slopes across Europe available, we know that snow sports fans in the region will be clamouring to book the best of the action for Winter 21/22 and ski flights are selling very well as a result.

@TheLocalYokel I don't think jet2holidays do take any seats on other airlines. I believe everything is done in house.

Don't think Jet2holidays offer any ski holidays as yet. Not that I can find any online!
Many thanks - you are right. They are shown under the heading 'Ski Flights' on the Jet2 website. My assumption that they would be for Jet2 Holidays is obviously wrong. It seems they are operating commercial flights to these ski destinations in competition with easyJet and Ryanair, as well as some charter flights by other airlines for tour companies.

Catania will be up against easyJet's 2 x weekly in summer 2022.

Geneva has been dropped
I wonder why they thought of starting it in the first place knowing how strong a year-round route GVA is for easyJet. My wife and I have enjoyed TUI Swiss summer lakes and mountains holidays several times in the past decade from BRS and the carrier has always been easyJet via GVA, so it's not as if easyJet is flight-only on the GVA route.

Can't be poor forward bookings this far out surely.

Another new route for Summer’22

Catania - Sicily

Weekly on a Tuesday
Weekly Catania from May 2022.
Catania will be up against easyJet's 2 x weekly in summer 2022.
Press release now on airport website re Catania.

Perhaps someone at jet2 sat down and looked at passenger figures and carried by who.As rightly pointed out by thelocalyokel easyjet have a good loading for GVA if in summer or more so in winter with ski. I wonder if jet2 will take a allocation of seats on the easyjet aircraft,if they do that sort of thing. I know TUI take a allocation of seats on aircraft of easyjet to GVA.

On another F4A forum I asked about Jet2 taking seats on other airlines for their holidays and someone (who I think has knowledge of Jet2) said they don't.

Jet2holidays do not offer Ski holidays therefore no real reason to take easyJet seats. I guess if anyone from the local area wants to fly Jet2 to Geneva they'll need to take an hour or so journey up the M5/M42 to Birmingham.

Jet2 has suspended all flights and holidays till at least june 23rd this year. The reason is the govermment announcement earlier today with the traffic light system. The announcement has not put much confidence in tour companies or airlines. This will affect all Jet2 bases.

It has to be hoped that the Covid situation will have become clearer by 24 June when other Jet2 bases are due to resume operations, and that the BRS reset starting date of 1 July will go ahead if operations elsewhere have begun a week before that date.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
